We came here for afternoon tea last year and enjoyed it. We visited again today and really really enjoyed it. Liked the new style of serving the afternoon tea and last time it was a mixed variety of cakes so we fought over them due to the odd numbers, but today they came 2 x 2 so we both had... More

The Radisson sits half way between the Castle and Holyrood on the Royal mile. We arrived by train from London and walked up to the hotel in just a few minutes. Checkin was friendly and quick and we were into one of the newly refurbished rooms. It was comfortable and spacious and a lovely view. The bed and linen was... More

My wife and spent seven nights in the Radisson Blu on the Royal Mile and could find no fault. Room 319 had been recently refurbished and, other than some broken/cracked tiles in the bathroom (probably a problem when fitting the shower?) the large room was more than adequate for our visit. We didn't use the spa so can't comment and... More

I stayed in this Hotel with some friends on a motorcycle trip to northern Schottland. Not only was the room very clean and comfortable, I also liked the Bar for a late drink and the very friendly staff. The location of the Hotel is perfect if you want to visit some of Edinburg's huge variety of attractions. The only point... More

Stayed here to attend a friends wedding, loved it. Very clean, modern and right on the doorstep to Royal Mile. Staff friendly, rooms spacious and comfy. Staff were very accomodating when we asked for possibility of early check in. A+

One of the best Hotels I have stayed in. Location couldn't have been better, middle of the Royal Mile, within walking distance for the railway station. Room fantastic, booked a superior room and was upgraded to business class (partner's 50th birthday) Room was clean, modern, spacious with huge comfortable bed. Staff were friendly, extremely courteous and very helpful. Definitely recommend... More

We went here for an afternoon voucher deal a while back and whilst we had no complaint about the food we did feedback some comments re service, etc. They did respond and said they were making changes so hoped we would return which we now have. Well I am amazed - they have moved the afternoon tea to the bar... More

The location couldn't be better--mid-way along the Royal Mile, with a taxi stand in front. The hotel is in the midst of what appears to be some significant remodeling, which should make improvements I can't speak to. The onsite restaurant, which, IMHO, has an uninviting name, has very good food.

I have been very satisfied with my stay. The room, 415, is large and light with all amenities tucked away nicely. I overlook the Royal Mile, so this hotel is the perfect location for my first trip to Edinburgh. Lighting controls are good and easy to obtain your desired ambience. Amazing amount of electrical outlets conveniently located ( U.S. visitors... More

By far one of the best hotels I have stayed in. It was located in the middle of the Royal Mile. Rooms were spacious and the help very professional. A great buffet breakfast included in the price. The bar was great and very nice restaurants within walking distance.

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
