I wanted to add this review for a couple of reasons firstly shop around from hotel connections as the same room bed and breakfast can cost from £60 to £268! Depending which booking agent you go with. Secondly the hotel is in the middle of an upgrade and we were booked into an non-upgraded room which to be honest showed,... More

This has been one of my most unmemorable stays in a Long time! 1st we got upgraded to a "business class" room! Wow, and that's where it stopped! 2nd the rooms are old, totally tarnished, (#258) wood old, not varnished, generally poor feel! Bathroom is for handy capped , but funnily with slippery tiles, and a recess that's too deep... More

As a family of four we enjoyed this hotel for two days before we went home. There was plenty of space and had a few kid toys that my daughter just loved. The kids got their own toiletries which I thought was great. Breakfast was good and the location was brilliant! We found the staff to be fantastic. Expensive but... More

Comfortable but not special hotel. Despite our room being on the 4th floor we experienced loud boisterous noise from outside the hotel until close to 4 a.m. !! This happened on all three of our nights stay. On the plus side the hotel is ideally located on the Royal Mile so you are right there for all the Old Town... More

The Radisson Blu was a disappointment, because we have stayed in Blu's in other cities and they have been great. This hotel had a lot of people walking around with name tags. Our rooom was very small, although rated supeiprior. The buffet breakfast was very basic. The real problem was the cleanliness. The halls were vacuumed only up the middle,... More

Excellent location right in the middle of Royal Mail. Hotel architecture is awesome. Soft lights, blue colour, ancient stones... brilliant. Check in was friendly, effective and guys were very informative. Specially mention to the guy from Breda (Holland), Carmen from Spain and a girl from Edinburgh working late shift on Sunday. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they... More

The location is perfect- half way up the Royal Mile, and 2 blocks from the train station. The hotel is being renovated; the old rooms are TIRED, and the new rooms although nice are soulless. Most of the rooms overlook an alleyway with 3 ACTIVE bars, and are very noisy. The hotel has installed sliding plexiglass over the windows which... More

This hotel was recommended to us and we certainly weren't disappointed with the location. It's a short walk from the station and perfectly placed on the Royal Mile, so you can walk to most attractions. We were upgraded to a recently refurbished room and it was lovely - very modern & spacious. However, it was also rather noisy at night... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
