The room was clean and the staff are very friendly; though the hotel is tired, dull and is connected to a (student) pub. I agree with Magherafelt and many other posters ... though I must add I had a quiet room though was still disturbed by the drunken yobs outside. With so much accommodation to chose from in Edinburgh; chose... more

We arrived in the morning and the court yard at the front of the hotel smelt of vomit and stale alcohol as the bins were sitting at the front of the hotel. Inside the hotel was a bit shabby. Our room wasnt ready so we asked if we could leave our bags and collect them later. The 'luggage room' was... more

The worst place I have ever stayed in my life - Lively was an understatement the noise was terrible until 3.30am followed swiftly by bins banging and being filled at 7.30am. Dangerous looking socket in room so kettle and lamp did not work. Only half a double glazed unit. Staff unhelpful and forgetfull. An overpriced nightmare. Chosen for proximity to... more

The coziest room I've ever stayed in! I was booked through a tour group and immediately read the reviews on TripAdvisor to get some idea where I was staying. Needless to say, I was apprehensive. However, after spending a long, exhausting, wet day storming about Edinburgh, coming home to our cozy, quiet room was truly delectible. I LOVED my room.... more

I was a bit sceptical when I read the reviews on this site but our friends had already booked. When we arrived at the hotel my husband was not feeling well. The hotel quickly got us into a bedroom even though it was only 10am and offered to get us a doctor, room service anything we wanted - its what... more

We stayed here for a week during the Edinburgh festival, and were very disappointed with this hotel. It is shabby and outdated, in dire need of renovation. The room and the hotel in general felt unclean and uncomfortable, a very bad way to start your trip to lovely Edinburgh. Even though we booked months in advance we got a room... more

Selected this hotel for its location handy for the Royal Mile. However standards of cleanliness were not good, although the bed linen was clean the room was generally grubby as were all communal areas. In the stairwell there was a smell of stale vomit. Hair balls were on the bathroom floor and various items within the room were broken. Also... more

So on our return visit once again found the hotel to be efficient and effective. This time our room was overlooking the coutyard on the opposite side to the hotel reception. It was a little noisy until about 1.30am but not enough to be really disturbing (unless your a very light sleeper). It really is a hotel for younger couples... more

This hotel is excellent if you are a group of lads going for a stag weekend and not like we did for a short break with partner!!! Nice enough, but i would discourage any people wanting a nice hotel to take your significant other!!! Unless you like loud music and beer this place is NOT for you!!! more

We booked this because it was central and in that regard it was a good choice. But not only is it above a very lively pub but there was another bar on the 1st floor which was right across from our room. Avoid room 104 if you want an early night. The party didn't finish until about 1am every night.... more
