It was what you would expect. The only issue we had was the shower was not great and it certainly wasn't hot. The staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was quick efficient even though we initially were given the wrong room as someone was already in it ! The room was clean. Be aware the 5th floor has no... More

Friendly welcome. For the first time in any hotel the receptionist checked through the fire plan with us then personally took us to our room and showed us the fire escape route! Clean spacious and comfortable room in the heart of Edinburgh with most attractions in walking distance. The in-house food is ok but it's fun to explore the nearby... More

Room was a decent size. Shower cubicle a bit small. Room extremely clean. It is what it is, a Travelodge. However what made it stand out was the friendliness of the staff and the quality and range of the breakfast, which put some more expensive venues to shame. Great location. Near Royal Mile and Waverley Station.

I stayed here as part of a lads weekend away and I can't fault the place. Firstly the price was fantastic as we had booked early. The location is great and within walking distance of a lot of the good bars, clubs and eateries. The rooms were basic but had everything that was needed and they were clean and comfortable.the hotel... More

Decent sized bedroom for the price, with a good bed. Bathroom was on the small side but if only staying for a night or two it is acceptable. Shower flooded slightly and had to request a hairdryer from reception but other than that it was a comfortable and clean stay.

This Travelodge is in a great location; not too far from the train station or the main attractions of Edinburgh but just enough out of the way so that it is not susceptible to noise. Room was clean and staff were friendly. We would stay again.

Situated just off the Royal Mile this was a perfect place to base ourselves to explore the city. Room was clean. Staff very friendly. It was quiet and breakfast was good. Edinburgh deserves to be looked at no this was a very cost effective way to see it. The hotel is also within ten minutes walk of Waverley Station but... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
