Position at the base of the Royal Mile was central to everything. Close to shops, food and cultural areas. I would recommend and would return at next visit. Close to Hop on Hop off bus stop and local buses just around the corner.

Cheap prices, clean bright rooms, very friendly staff and well located for the city centre, what more could you ask for if your on a budget, we booked a double room and on arrival was given a family room at no extra cost, bonus

Probably the easiest review I have ever done on here. This hotel is ideally located just off The Royal Mile. It is clean, comfortable and very quiet. Staff are very professional and friendly, nothing is too much trouble.

We were a group of ladies on a Hen do and had a lovely stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and tidy. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Great position for the Royal Mile, North Bridge for Restaurants and Grassmarket within easy walking.

Much better than expected, we had a clean, large room with a comfortable main bed, tea and coffee facilities. The second portable bed was a little uncomfortable, but that was somewhat expected. Very reasonable price.

Arrived earlier than check in, having rang earlier and asked if any rooms would be ready that we could leave our luggage in, we arrived and all rooms were available which we were unbelievably happy about. The room and location represented good value for money, and the staff were helful and friendly. However, the rooms do not have air con, and even though the weather outside was mild, were very warm even at night.

Stayed here for a couple of nights in April as we wanted a central base for exploring the city, couldn't have chosen a better location. Room was immaculate, well laid out, good size and comfortable. Bathroom was ample in size, however shower cubicle did not have a shower curtain/door which was odd and resulted in floor/sink/toilet/towels all getting very wet.... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
