Excellent value for money. Near to the royal mile and the centre of Edinburgh with princes street a short walk away. Family room was good and the breakfast was satisfactory although not brilliant. The car park was good and plenty of spaces, although it was difficult to find.

It's generally very reasonably priced particularly if you can buy when a sale is on. The location is perfect near the centre and just off the royal mile. The rooms are never great and generally don't come with a bath. In practice I'm out most of the day and only looking for somewhere to sleep and for this it is... More

Best thing about this TL is its location, grubby looking outside but nice and clean inside, big comfy rooms and beds , but need A/C especially on ground floor rooms we could not open our windows due to constant all night car and bus fumes very noisy at night . Windows closed kept out all the fumes and noise but... More

I thought my wife and I could tolerate The Edinburgh Travelodge as it is so close to the Royal Mile. In fact it continues to improve and the building, facilities and staff exceeded our expectations. It was a wonderful base from which to explore the Fringe street entertainment and evening shows. Everything clean and in good order, very good breakfast... More

This travelodge was great, handy for the royal mile as we were going to the edinburgh tattoo,we also saw some acts at the fringe, brilliant weekend, loads of tourists, great atmosphere,The tattoo was first class, would go again, and spend longer in edinburgh, loads to see and do,and good eating places, but prices were very dear, for food and drink, good weather, which makes it better

Travelodge aren't pretending to be in the luxury market, but this hotel is great. The staff make the place special, nothing is too much trouble. And you get the stuff you expect from a budget hotel - comfortable bed, clean room, decent shower just down the road from Pleasance (great for the Fringe). Mind you, the wifi could be better...

As said, can't fault for location and the price, considering The Fringe was on..... The Hotel was clean enough and, well, Travelodgish!!....You get what you pay for and this establishment was adequate...We had room 238, there was three of us, and it was a fairly large 'L' shaped room.. the other three had room 237 and that was kinda small!!..tho... The hotel is what you would expect; the bed is comfortable, the loo is cramped and there's a shower but no bath. The road outside is very, very noisy (cobbled road and loads of people passing by) and the stone buildings channel the noise into the rooms. There is double glazing that's very effective, but the room gets stuffy if... More

After a long day on the train arriving into Edinburgh in the evening I was glad to know the hotel was in such a great location and not far at all! After the 5 minute walk to the hotel from the train station we arrived at the hotel and got into our room. Although the hotel is on a main... More

Staff very friendly and helpful in giving us a good sized family room. Only disappointment was breakfast which was very busy and chaotic and no hash browns (not on the menu) which being a regular user of Travelodges let the children down !

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
