the hotel is very very evry old!!!! absolutly no go.the room is shabby with peeling paint in the bathroom(((( in addition the hotel is full of the bus touristic groups of old people... BUT the hotel has 2 big advantages: the location and the breakfast. the location is simply genial for the exploring of Edinburgh, is 5 min walk to... More

it is a wonderful experience when we lived in Jurys Inn of Edinburgh. It will be much more better if hotel can update decoration and wifi signal. As far as staff in recepetion is concerned, they are very friendly and helpful!

We loved the location of this hotel. It was right in the middle of the Royal Mile, which meant it took 10 minutes or less to walk anywhere we wanted to go. The staff is very friendly. Over our five day stay our room progressively smelled of must/mold which was not very nice and we had our windows open the... More

Our room was spacious and comfortably furnished BUT there were items in the bathroom left from the previous occupants, which makes me question the cleaning practice, the toilet found it difficult to flush away tissue, no bottled water was supplied, no fridge in the room. Between the mattress and the headboard ther was a gap of at least 6 inches... More

Yes, I know the Fringe & the Tattoo were on but at £259 room only rate - where we made no demands on the hotel at all, this is hardly good value. On the plus side - the location. Ideally situated a few minutes from the train station. Another plus, friendly efficient staff, somewhere to leave your luggage before &... More

I stayed here for one night and won't stay again. I was given room 107. It is a single room which overlooks some hideous vents that are noisy and smelly. You can of course close the window but then you have the joy of an incredibly small room with no air conditioning. The toilet was dirty, pillows awful and all... More

This is a chain hotel; however, the location cannot be beat. Just off the Royal Mile, it is close to everything that is Edinburgh in August! Staff were fair; restaurant fair also. Rooms clean and modern, just beware of street noise on lower levels. We stayed the night we attended the Tattoo - and it could not have been more... More

Excellent location for transport the Royal Mile and Fringe venues, friendly helpful staff and clean comfortable room. Hope to visit the Fringe Festival again and would book again. Food was good quality but a little limited for veggie options but plenty of good places to eat close by.

Like to say the hotel was well situated and also very comfortable. The staff were a tremendous. Team and couldn't do enough for you which was lovely.i was a little disappointed as it was our 25th wedding anniversary. Once we realised we could make another day so we had 3 nights the price had risen from £80 to over £200... More

Service on reception & at breakfast was good. However corridors & rooms are very dated & tatty. Bed & pillows hard & not very comfortable. No air con & not able to open windows due to being next to a loud fan at the back of the building. Bathroom dated & horrible shower curtain. Appreciate Fringe festival is on &... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
