We stayed here one night before picking up our car. It is an easy walk from the bus/ train station once we worked out where it was. It is comfortable though a little soulless. We could walk up a laneway behind the hotel and were on the Royal Mile. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

Myself and my husband stayed at the Jury's Inn on Saturday Night, it was like going back in time we paid £152 for the pleasure of staying in a small dingy, smelly room, when we opened the room door the most disgusting smell of dampness came wiffing out. Needless to say I would not recommend the Jury's Inn not until... More

The property is located near the Royal Mile and the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food service in the restaurant was very good. The rooms need to be refurbished in the near future and safes should be added to the rooms.

For the price we paid, we expected a slightly better room especially after coming into a fantastic lobby. Although the room was a good size the carpet was soiled and the bathroom was small with floor tiles broken in some places . The bed seemed new and quite firm and had nicely pressed sheets and pillow cases. The room was well... More

The Jurys Inn Edinburgh is in a great location, convenient to the Royal Mile and transportation, yet a little bit private, which is nice. Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast buffet. The room was a bit cramped, as was the bathroom, and could use an update, but were fine. Pretty good vaule for the money.

Comfortable hotel in the centre of this beautiful city. If travelling in by train you can see the hotel from the platform of the station as you get off the train. On saying that we had absolutely no noise from street level and we were on the 1st floor. From the hotel you are a stones throw from the Royal... More

Great location for business trip. Excellent staff very attentive. The room was not luxurious but clean & good value for money. The breakfast had a great selection, however evening menu some what limited. Overall an ideal hotel for visiting the city for work or leisure.

I stayed in this hotel 9 years ago when I was a student in UK. So when we decided to include Scotland in our UK vacation itinerary, I immediately thought of staying in this hotel again. And we didn't regret it. This hotel is truly value for money. The location is great as it is just less than 5-minute walk... More

This hotel is very clean, rooms are modestly appointed, and offer up an excellent breakfast to start your day. Check in/out were done quick, courteously, and efficiently. The staff were all very friendly, and knowledgable. What is handy about this hotel is its close proximity to all things Edinburgh. A 5 minute walk to Waverly Station( train, bus, airport link), as well... More

Stayed here for 5 nights and found it to be quite convenient. While not on the Royal Mile, it was only abt 200 feet walk through a close, felt very Scottish going through it! The room itself was lackluster but clean, fairly well updated. Bathrooms were somewhat updated and clean. The view was toward the train station, but still enjoyable... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
