I had originally booked here for 3 nights and ended up staying for over two weeks. Felt right at home from the get go, amazing atmosphere and lots of lounges in the hostel to socialise in or listen to music or quiet rooms to just read a book! Dorms are clean and well heated, faultless security and bathrooms were well... More

This is a really good hostel. The dorms are spacious and beds are big. The atmosphere is great with a variety of common rooms, and the building has charm. Right in the old town across from Edinburgh Castle. I'd stay again.

Castle rock is one of the very best hostels I have stayed in. Staff are friendly but discreet. Place is very clean. Linen smelled fresh and the place seemed to be kept up well. Great common areas to hang out in, so many to choose from. The location is great. The only strange thing is that there seems to be... More

This was a great location, 4 separate fun rooms to hang out in, records and a a guitar to play with, pool table and lots of eating space, they play movies at night, rooms are kinda small but all in all great value for a backpacker, its near the main castle and quite a walk uphill if you are not... The hostel is made by it's location. The staff were friendly and informative and the hostel is located in a cool old building worth exploring. It offers a variety of rooms to socialize, relax and party in and is perfect for any traveler!

This is the friendliest / most fun hostel I've ever been to. There is a common room where you can eat and drink, a kitchen, a music room with a load of records and a record player + a guitar, a lounge.. etc. It does get quite loud though downstairs and it seems like there is a socializing culture going... Spent a long weekend at the Castle when I went up to watch the rugby... Found the hostel had a fantastic location, 5 min walk to the city centre.. Free tea and coffee, rooms were basic but clean and the staff were very friendly... No bar but they don't mind if you bring your own beer and all in all... More

Stayed for 2 nights as a couple in November 2014. Very nice room, well heated and the cheap breakfast was worth it. Only down side was the bed was quite uncomfortable, not a real mattress just a piece of foam cut to size. Shared bathroom upstairs was nicer than the one downstairs. We had a great view of the castle... More

Decent value for money hostel. Was late to book for the weekend and could only get beds in a 6dorm. But had a surprisingly good sleep as all the other people were quiet and decent. Location is good, very central. Staff a bit eccentric but very nice. Loved the fact we could leave out luggage a pick it up later.... More

The hostel is good but is impossible to sleep because there were drunk boys that got in the rooms where other people were sleeping making a lot of noises, talking at the top of their voices and joking as they were in their houses. I reserved three nights in this hostel but after two nights i went away. I think... More
