Stayed 3 nights here, booked private dbl room w ensuite. We got a 'penthouse' at the top of 6 floors (no lift though!) with Heaps of space and our own kitchen too. Bonus. Place was clean but bit rundown w holes in plaster etc, but friendly and helpful staff, good location for getting around but noisy at times at night... More

We had read the reviews on TA and still took a chance. Just needed a place to park our luggage, shower and rest for 2 nights. Place is a 10 minute walk from Waverly Station (if you have luggage use the road used by taxis to enter the station as an exit ..much easier to roll than lift your stuff... More

I spent three nights here total, one in a large, all-female dorm, the other two in a private room. The bathrooms, while small and a bit old, they seemed perfectly clean to me when I used them. The staff were fine, though all of the staff I spoke to were Australian, and based on the name of the attached cafe... More

Staff here are great! Really liked staying here they have plenty of local knowledge. Lots of small shops nearby. Warm rooms and well equipped kitchens. Well laid out common rooms though bathrooms are all on different levels. Double room with tv was like a luxury and had nice shared bathrooms. Bit gutted when we came back from our tour and... More

shared washrooms. Expected. Shared rooms with 8 to 12+. expected. CLOSE to the castle and everything fun! Awesome! you get what you pay for with hostels. Attached to breakfast nook. Felt safe in rooms safe enough to leave backpack etc while out exploring. Can get all girls or all boys rooms. Euro or Pound taken. 10 minutes (uphill) from Main... More

A good, basic budget travellers hostel. Perfect location near the train station, Castle, Royal Mile, Starbucks, bars, restaurants and tourist shops ... everything you need. We stayed in a private twin room (bunk beds) in a sperate building across the street from the dorms. Bedding was cozy and the heat was on (awesome cuz the rest of the trip was... More

We are a middle-aged couple and booked this hostel because it was the perfect location close to our son at U.Edin and we were traveling on a budget. We stayed for 4 nights over two separate weekends and had a great experience. We had 2 different double ensuite rooms and the room and bathroom were very clean. The first room... More

I stayed at this hostel with a friend for two nights. We were in a 6-bed mixed dorm at the top of the hostel, which meant we had to lug our bags up 7 flights of stairs. The reception staff (who seemed to be fellow backpackers, rather than local Scots) lived on-site and were socialising raucously in the reception area... More

I don't know why everybody on here is writing such horrid reviews. Myself and my friend stayed here for three nights August 12th - August 15th 2011, and found no qualms with the place. We are not dirty people and would not tolerate living in squallor, however, this is not the case with this hostel. Anyone who has bookings with... More
