We booked a room through another website and went for the standard room as even that was pricey due to it being the last day of the festival. I had heard about The Bonham from other people and the reviews were always first class, we rocked up early to drop our cases not expecting to get a room ( 13.00pm... More

I stayed at The Bonham for one night on a business trip because I couldn't get into any of my normal hotels. It's a very nice if slightly old fashioned hotel in the upper class West End of Edinburgh. My room was at the back of the hotel with a view over the old part of the city and the... More

We stayed at the Bonham for two nights touring Scotland; it was by far the best but also the most expensive hotel we stayed at. The staff was amazing, very helpful without ever being obtrusive. Our room was in the lower level, overlooking the parking lot, but aside from that it was tastefully decorated and impeccably clean. Breakfast was very... More

Excellent stop over during the Edinburgh Festival. Great deal for bed, breakfast, evening meal plus a complimentarty bottle of Proseco. Excellent staff, good contemporary decore and superb food. Have stayed here before years ago, and my judgement is that they need to take care with the details! Mould on sealantt on bathroom not acceptable, lift is old and, lot's of scuffed... More

We had a beautiful room overlooking the square with views across to the Episcopal Cathedral. Excellent breakfast and a cosy lounge for relaxing before we went out. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Staff were great but the 2 things that set it off were the bedroom - high ceilings, massive windows, comfy beds and just a really comfortable situation and the breakfasts were also great. Edinburgh isn't huge but this is also in a fantastic location on a gorgeous street. The building itself is stunning and I can't see any reason why... More

We stopped here for the weekend having stayed last year in August. We asked for an upgraded room, which I have to say was positively ordinary for a supposed superior. Our mother had the same standard (which was bigger, nicer, fresher, with bathrobes and products), our friends had a standard (same as ours barring about an extra 2 feet of... More

Having stayed in this "boutique" hotel I feel compelled to review this establishment and warn others of the appalling standards and service this hotel delivers. It is a dirty, dark and dismal hotel and at about £200 a night the management should be embarrassed and ashamed at what they are offering. Our beds were barely made up; we had to... More

We stayed at the Bonham for five nights in order to see Edinburgh and join a tour of Scotland. From the time we stepped into the hotel on our arrival until we left in the wee hours of the morning in August after the tour, we had nothing but absolutely excellent service. Everyone was so very nice and responsive to... More

We had a one night stay here. Everything was very good. Our parking was free and secure. The room was very comfortable and reasonably equipped. Breakfast was excellent. We ate in the restaurant on the evening we arrived - the food was delicious and faultless. Excellent service all round.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
