In Edinburgh for some business meetings and stayed at the Bonham instead of one of the chain hotels. Hotel is in a quiet location and is a 20 minute walk from centre of town. Rooms are comfortable and staff are very friendly. Lacks the hi tech rooms and bathrooms you find in some places but makes up with peace and... More

I can only rave about this hotel, really. I just followed my instinct and some very good reviews on Tripadvisor and booked a room there for my last stay in Edinburgh. What can I say, I'm smitten by the place. Let me count the ways: 1. The staff: efficient and very polite, 2. The hotel: beautifully styled and very cozy,... More

A friend and I recently spent 5 nights at this lovely hotel, just off Queensferry Road in Edinburgh. I was celebrating a big '0' birthday and wanted something a bit above our usual hotels, that could provide comfort, good food and ambience. This hotel did it all. It also had a carpark, which is a must if you were travelling... More

Stayed here two days. 30 min walk to the castle, which isn't bad close to everything but on a pretty quite street. A couple of small probably nitpicking things but if your a "boutique" hotel the rug from the entry to restaurant shouldn't look like it has been there since the 1800's and when replacing towels in the bathroom refold... We were treated to a Boozy Snoozy lunch by friends and decided to book an overnight stay with breakfast as a bonus. What a lovely experience! The hotel is very individual and in a lovely setting. The food was very good and the service absolutely first rate. We'll certainly go back.

We spent 3 nights on the best of Bonham deal, we were really impressed with both the accommodation and the food. As we don't drink prosecco we were able to upgrade to a really nice wine which we drank with dinner, this is unlike some other hotels who only allow the stated wine and it has to be consumed in... We stayed for two nights on a bed and breakfast basis in March . We had booked a superior room but found that it was very small .Complained at Reception and was told all superior rooms were the same size ? However we were offered and took an upgrade to a suite which was excellent .The staff at the hotel... More

Stayed at the Bonham reently with my husband. Had a great time in Edinburgh - hadn't been for years. The hotel itself is really nice, and the staff all pleasant and polite without being stuffy. We booked this stay as a treat because we hadn't been away or stayed in a hotel for ages, and it looked nice on the... More

Firstly would like to say that the front oh house staff were all excellent, including reception and waiters in restaurant. However, the rooms were a little tired even thiugh they had been refurbished a couple of years ago. We ate in the restaurant the night we stayed. Unfortunately, fish ordered and duck had to be sent back as they were... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
