In Edinburgh to celebrate my sister's 50th birhday I took a party of 4 for luncheon as I'd heard rave reviews about the Witchery. We were anticipating something akin to Gravetye Manor in Sussex - we were wrong! The positives: Lovely surroundings The negatives: - We were not told in advance we would be in the new restaurant - Our... more

We stayed at the Witchery for two nights and thought the hotel was very good and enjoyed a meal in the Witchery restaurant. On our final day we ate lunch in the Secret Garden restaurant, which proved to be a mistake. Unfortunately one of our meals was not up to standard and so we returned it to the kitchen, untouched... more

We have just spent one night in the Armoury suite at The Witchery. The suite was utterly fantastic with champagne, chocolates and cookies waiting for us. The rooms are great, beautifully decorated and very very romantic we couldnt believe the size of the bath !!! The breakfast was gorgeous, my husband was particularly fasinated by the television which arose from... more

On a recent visit to the city we booked for lunch at the Witchery. We generally treat a lunch as a taster with a few to returning for an evening meal but following our experience we chose not to return. We found the service to be very good and there was an excellent choice of wine. Unfortunately this was over... more

Wow, Wow and double wow. This place has be experienced to be believed. Check in was swift and we were escorted to our room by Roxy (lovely chap). The room was dark, opulent, kind of spooky and looked like something from Dracula's Castle. We stayed in the Sempill Suite which consisted of the bedroom, a large bathroom, a kitchen and... more

Having booked our recent stay at The Witchery as a surprise for my husband's 40th birthday, what can I say? No words can possibly adequately describe our stay in The Guard Room a few days ago. We enjoyed our stay so much that we did not want to leave, it was a real wrench. Everything about our time there was... more

I have just returned from an overnight at the Witchery. We stayed in the Library Suite. Perhaps I was expecting too much having read all the great reviews but I thought it was time that the suite was redecorated. The modern kitchen looked a bit out of place and wires could be seen as they were only partially hidden by... more

We stayed in the Library Room, is was beautiful room, with a four poster bed and stand alone bath. Fantastic candle lit restaurant, great meal and good breakfast! They leave little delights for you in the room upon arrival. Would definitely go back! more

Well, it lived up to expectations, which, given how impressive tripadvisor reviewers make it sound, is pretty good! We stayed in the Guard Room, and had an amazing first anniversary. There is an enormous two-person bath, a lovely dining room (great breakfast, even though it wasn't cooked) and plush bedroom (including an intriguing hidden tv!). There's even a secret kitchen.... more
