We stayed for one night for my daughter's graduation and had dinner. We were on the preferred guest floor since I have a Starwood partnership membership and the room was excellent. We ate in the One Square restaurant. Starwood partnership membership meant we got a discount on the food. Food and service were both excellent. Recomend the rack of lamb.... More

The location cannot be beat!! Nice, modern hotel with a comfortable welcoming vibe. Very helpful concierge and front desk staff (especially Lucasz, Stuart, and Jamie). Restaurant staff are quite friendly but a little bit confused. Only ordered a very simple breakfast for the two of us (eggs Benedict, fruit, and coffee) and the order came out completely wrong . Oh... More

We arrived here from the United states in the morning after a long flight. They were very accommodating and gave us a room right away. That was so awesome and very much appreciated. The concierge was very helpful and knowledgable. The westin bed is always amazing. Will stay here again and will always recommend SPG.

We just returned from staying at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh for 6 nights. It is perfectly located in the heart of Edinburgh and you can walk to all of the major sites. We were in room 626 which was a wonderful room but no view. But who cares about the view from your room anyways. The... More

Had such an amazing stay at this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and the room was wonderful. The lighting in the bathroom is really cool. The bed was huge and we had a brilliant nights sleep. I would definitely recommend paying the extra and getting a castle view, so beautiful at night. The Sheraton really made our trip to... More

The positives are a great location, near the Castle, Princes street and several good restaurants. Our room had a great view of the castle and due to the location on Festival Sq, there was no street noise. The rooms are VERY small, but well organized with American style outlets and USB ports at the desk. The negatives include the room... More

Stayed at the Sheraton just after New Year as planned something shopping in Edinburgh, checked in as SPG member without queueing. Hotel room was nice and the open dividers into the bathroom are a nice touch. Dinner in the restaurant was fine, restaurant was quiet yet we were still sat in the middle near other guests while the more comfortable... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
