We have just returned from a night at The Howard which I planned to celebrate my husbands birthday. This hotel, although slightly off the beaten track is in a lovely street in Edinburgh, about 10 minutes walk from Princes Street. On arrival, we were offered a glass of champagne, as they were aware it was my husbands birthday, this was... more
We stayed at the Howard for two nights, and I wish it could have been longer. The room was wonderful - beautiful furnishings, comfortable sitting area, amazing bathroom. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Dinner at the restaurant was wonderful. Highly recommended, can't wait to go back some day. more
Pure Luxury and indulgence. We booked to stay at the Howard for our wedding anniversary 29/5/08 and we stayed on their romantic package. The discrete in room check in and the champagne on arrival was a lovely touch. The butler Fernando was excellent, he unpacked our bags and even found out some historical information we had tried in vain to... more
Stayed for 2 nights at the end of a 10 day trip all over Scotland. What a treat--the service is spectacular and the hotel itself is beautiful and charming. When we checked in, we were given a room with a queen-sized bed, but they immediately were able to switch us to a king room, even though technically it was our... more
Posted a review but heres a fresh one with some better details. Stayed at The Howard for 4 nights in end of April. Overall a 7/10 experience. Butler Fraser was brilliant as was the other young man whose name I didn't get. Very large and nice room and the bathroom is lovely. They promote the hotel restaurant as some great... more
This delightful hotel in Edinburgh's "New Town" sits just a short walk from Princes Street in a haven of genteel quietude. Comprised of 3 Georgian residences dating from the 1780's it offers top class accommodation, attentive, charming and discreet staff and a restaurant with a limited menu but very well presented fare. Although my wife had stayed at the Howard... more
We booked our stay at The Howard using a great feature on Last Minute.com. Basically, they have hotels that you can book as mystery hotels. You get a description of where the hotel is and the star rating but no name until you have confirmed the booking.Once you click on ok, you find out where you will be staying-all very... more
We arrrived at the Howard on our honeymoon and stayed for 2 nights. We were upgraded for free to the Abercrombie Suite. It really was 5* treatment! our butler was lovely! The room was top of the range with a 4 poster bed and the decoration was finished to a high standard. It was situated very close to the centre... more
this was a return visit for us, and we spent two nights this trip. Our room was large, well appointed and very quiet. The staff was wonderful, booking theatre tickets and making suggestions for dinner. A trip to Scotland isn't complete without scotch, and the butlers are very willing to share their knowledge and assist in tastings. We will definitely... more
