Strongly recommend this hotel if you're planning a stay in Edinburgh. Hotel is beautiful, staff friendly and professional. Hotel's central location offers great access to tourist hot-spots and shopping areas.

We've been meaning to visit for a while, but chose the wrong day to do it unfortunately! We decided to call in for a drink and to look through the menu to plan a proper return for lunch or afternoon tea. Loud music assaulted us on arrival and the ambience in the bar was nil! My elderly mother-in-law said she... More

Stayed here on a weekend break with my sisters and we absolutely loved it! It is so central to all the shops and restaurants, at the end of Princes Street. The hotel itself is pure luxury, evident from the moment you walk into the foyer. We stayed in a triple room on the 5th floor, which had superb views of... More

This is the second time we have attended for business and on both occasions the all round package has been excellent. All guests from overseas also responded positively in all respects. Would recommend.

We absolutely love the Caledonian, this was my third stay and my partner's second and we'd definitely consider staying again. It was my partner's birthday and everything was done to accommodate us and make her feel special - from a room upgrade to the breakfast which was a particular highlight for us both where staff wished her a happy birthday... Stayed at “the Caley” last weekend with some friends to celebrate a special birthday for my wife. I dont think we could have picked a better Edinburgh hotel. Absolutely excellent. We stayed at the NYC Waldorf Astoria last month and although this hotel does not have the profile or celeb history of its American sister, I would say it sits... More

Booked a double double with a view of the castle and we were not disappointed. Great room on the second floor. Very large room perfect for a family of four. We had the good luck to get a night at this hotel by sheer chance. Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
