Had a one night stay at the Hotel whilst visiting Edinburgh University. Hotel is located at the far end of Princes Street and a brisk 20 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley Train Station. Princes street closed to traffic because of the tram track being built, it was quite windy when we walked up and down the so builders sand was... more

Arrived around 1.00pm on Friday lunchtime and booked in straight away, our room wasn't ready until 3.00pm but staff ( all were very pleasant and polite)offered to ring us if it was ready earlier. This was no problem we left bags and headed out, on arriving back to the hotel we asked for an ice bucket and it was at... more

"Luxury Edinburgh" was the telegram address for the Caledonian Hotel, when it was a railway hotel just over 100 years ago. I was slightly concerned that Hilton might have stripped the hotel of its character, as I remember the building as a little girl when I lived in Edinburgh. I have to say that this hotel is now one of... more

As a Hilton you expect a certain standard and in fact the bedrooms have been redone in the last few years and are quite good. I paid £350 for one night with breakfast for a good sized room, but with no bath, they have replaced with a very good size shower, but some people prefer a bath, so a surprise.... more

I am a Hilton Honors gold level member. Stayed three nights on points and were treated very nicely. Room 208, large, lovely, fabulous view of the castle and a wonderful new marble bathroom. Great hot breakfast included. Very happy I stayed at this property. Most of the Concierge staff is great. Malcolm however, only suggested pricey restaurants that serve only... more

Stayed here for a few days for the Edinburgh Festival/Fringe. Considering the central location the hotel was incredibly quiet at night despite seemingly full occupation. The beds were great and the room was huge with a spectacular view. We forgot our swimming costumes which was a shame as the castle view was also good from the pool itself. Friendly and... more

Our first trip to Edinburgh was enhanced by an excellent stay at the majestic Cally. The staff were amazingly helpful. On finding I'd left my suitcase key (Doh!) they first tried the department store behind the hotel for spares to try to resolve the problem, rather than damage the case. (Thanks Alistaire!) A leisurely Sunday breakfast at the Pompadour, at... more

We stayed at Caledonian Hilton for 4 nights. It was a fabulous experience. The building was magnificent, with grand staircase and long corridors with stained glass. The dining rooms were great especially the Pompadour on the 1st floor. Our rooms were overlooking the castle-best view in town- with marbled bathrooms. The beds were huge, ceiling were very high, the furniture in... more

Went to Edinburgh for Military Tattoo. Stayed at the Caledonian Hilton for three nights (8/20-8/23) in a deluxe twin room facing the castle-room 515. Great view of castle and city. The room is a little dated and could use some cosmetic work but all in all a very good stay. This hotel is one of two "five star" hotels in... more

We have stayed at the Cally in the past and I am sad to stay I can't really see us staying there in the future. The hotel has a lot going for it - location, cleanliness, service and furnishings but it is the little and important things that tend to let it down. Check-in is not until 3pm and like... more
