It is an older hotel but is located in the great location, right next to the Edinburgh castle. From airport, you can take new Edinburgh tram to "West End" station and the hotel is about 2 blocks from there. The rooms are a bit tired but are clean and very comfortable with high end amenities. The hotel has great restaurants... More

We stayed for 3 days at this beautifull hotel, (11.7.14 to 13.7.14). We were in room 172 on the 1st floor. Although the view from the window was just of the car park, the comfort of the room more than compensated for that. Everything you could possibly need to make your stay, homely and comfortable, was at your disposal.Breakfast /... More

Paid an outrageous amount of money for what can only be described as a closet. Worse than Paris and I'm surprised at the Scots selling a room like this at that price to unsuspecting tourists. Edinburgh marathon was on so the rip off culture was in full swing. Breakfast buffet was good but put off by the room/wardrobe. I'll not... More

The Waldorf is beautiful and classy. Best nights sleep I have ever had in a hotel. The bed was very firm and perfect after a long days tour through the city. The furniture is sophisticated and the attention to detail in the room was impeccable. Great location. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh- Caledonian for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time and will never forget the experience of staying at Edinburgh's best hotel. In addition to the sumptuously luxurious room, the delightful staff, the delicious food, we also had a fantastic view of the castle from our room. More about the food:... More

My mother and I stayed for a few days at the Caledonian in June/July 2014. The hotel truly is a classic and lived up to our expectations. The location of the hotel is perfect at the corner of Princes Street gardens. Our room was absolutely lovely with large proportions, comfortable beds and a beautiful bathroom. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Walforf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian, or the "Caley" as it has become affectionately known among Edinburgh folk, was and still is the epitome of style and excellence. The large, rose-coloured Permian sandstone facade, quarried in Dumfries, dominates the skyline of the city's west end. The hotel has not only remained a focal point for more than one hundred years, but a symbol of the very best of Scottish hospitality. The Caley's pivotal position at the very heart of Edinburgh has always been its greatest asset. Created out of the 19th century railway boom, the five star hotel is looking to the future with confidence and pride in its ability to keep pace with the times. The hotel's reputation is as justified now as it was when the hotel first opened its doors in 1903. ... more   less
