Stayed two nights as a base for a work trip and conference at the nearby Sheraton. Fine as a place to get your head down, but wasn't massively impressed. Tatty in places reminded me of the Adelphi in Liverpool: it's seen better days. Certainly wouldn't describe it as five star. Our room was small (perhaps because we were booked in... more

My memory tells me the Caledonian Hilton used to have a way better ranking than the #35 that it is now - and I can fully understand why. It's not a bad place to stay, but far from the excellence you'd associate with the stars, name and pricing. My girlfriend and me went to the place over Christmas. We were... more

I stayed in the Caledonian at Easter as part of a long weekend in Edinburgh / Glasgow - the Cally has long been a favourite and had always been faultless in my opinion. Our initial booking was based upon an 'offer' rate on the Hilton website and when we arrived we were shown to an awful room - tiny, low... more

The Caledonian Hilton is a fab hotel, well located on Princess Street . The hotel is situated in a lovely old building with high ceilings and big windows. Rooms are clean and comfortable, though maybe a little small. The bathroom was lovely with a power shower over the bath, big towels and great little toiletries. Although the hotel is well... more

We booked the Caledonian Hitlon for my partner's birthday just wantng a nice night away. I agree with the previous comments on the disappointment when we got to our room. It was very small with the window wide open and had a strange smell. We closed the window and went down to the bar for a drink. We were charged... more

My sister and I booked a long weekend break at this hotel but were extremely disppointed. The room was very small and smelled of damp. The furniture and decor looked old and shabby - not at all like the pictures on the web-site. When we questioned the standard of the room with the receptionist her response was that if we... more

Beautiful hotel in excellent location in the centre of Edinburgh. The communal areas of the hotel are grand. The breakfast was great - didn't eat at the hotel. We stayed on the 5th floor, a bit of a walk but we were upgraded to a large bedroom with two double beds - one bed for our daughter of 4 years.... more

Have stayed here many times on business. Some rooms are better than others but if you have a problem the staff are great at sorting it out. The better rooms are lovely, spacious and traditional decor. Breakfast is usually good but the resturant is overpriced - plenty of good alternatives nearby. Location for sightseeing could not be better. Nice, though... more

We have stayed at the Caledonian three times and it always impresses. The most recent time we were given a free upgrade to a Junior Suite and it was simply stunning. The food, the service, everything about it - even the toiletries, are top class. more
