I have just returned from Edinburgh with 4 friends. We stayed at 20 Albany Street, what a find! A perfect location within walking distance of everything you want. Wonderful rooms with huge comfortable beds. Denise is the perfect host, wonderful cook and always ready to help. We felt as though we were staying at a friends house not a B&B... More

A beautiful Georgian Townhouse a short distance from Edinburgh's main station. A short walk and you find yourself in a very tranquil setting. We stayed in the very comfortable James Craig suite. Liked the large shower. Everything you would need readily available along with afternoon tea, whisky and lemon cake. The Scottish breakfast was high quality cooked-to-order with either an... More

We spent 4 nights in the Robert Adam suite, with a delicious breakfast every morning, not to mention lemon cake and scotch upon arrival, and home baked treats in the room. We agree with all the positive comments from prior reviews, no need to repeat them. Denise even offered for us to leave our luggage there while we went on... More

Our first time in Edinburgh, we wanted so stay somewhere special, and were really pleased with 20Albany! The location was the best, we were walking distance from main landmarks, which made it very easy. Denise a wonderful host, her homemade breakfasts are the best, and the rooms are just wonderful. My husband fell a bit ill during our stay, so... More

We picked this B and B due to the excellent comments on TA and we were not disappointed. The house is absolutely beautiful and very elegant in all its furnishings and decor. We had the Robert Adam Suite and the photos just don't do it justice. The room felt very roomy and the bed is absolutely enormous. The whole place... More

We spent 3 nights at 20 Albany Street, staying in the elegant Robert Adam suite. I fully endorse the previous glowing reviews and thank Denise for her great hospitality. It's just a short walk from the final tram stop at York Place.

Thank you for taking the time to review 20 Albany Street. The location is very central , but on a quiet street so most attractions are within easy walking distance. The new tram service terminates just around the corner and like yourselves many guests have found it an ideal way to transfer to and from the airport. Kind regards Denise More

We recently stayed at 20 Albany Street for 3 nights and were really happy with our choice. The B&B is located at the east end of the 18th century New Town with its elegant terraced houses and was until recently a private home. It's ideal for walking to Princes Street and exploring any area nearby. Denise, the owner, is a... More

My husband and I were lucky enough to spend 2 nights at this fantastic B&B recently. Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
