We spent 3 nights at 20 Albany Street, staying in the elegant Robert Adam suite. I fully endorse the previous glowing reviews and thank Denise for her great hospitality. It's just a short walk from the final tram stop at York Place.

Thank you for taking the time to review 20 Albany Street. The location is very central , but on a quiet street so most attractions are within easy walking distance. The new tram service terminates just around the corner and like yourselves many guests have found it an ideal way to transfer to and from the airport. Kind regards Denise More

We recently stayed at 20 Albany Street for 3 nights and were really happy with our choice. The B&B is located at the east end of the 18th century New Town with its elegant terraced houses and was until recently a private home. It's ideal for walking to Princes Street and exploring any area nearby. Denise, the owner, is a... More

My husband and I were lucky enough to spend 2 nights at this fantastic B&B recently. It was our first trip to beautiful Edinburgh, and we weren't disappointed by the city or our accommodation. 20 Albany Street is situated in the New town, less than 5mins from Princes Street, but feels like a world away as it's so quiet and... I go away with work a lot so am used to staying in boring chain hotels with no soul. This place is everything but!! We were made to feel welcome straight away with adequate parking which is no hassle and coffee, freshly made lemon cake and a dram of whiskey on arrival. The Robert suite was MASSIVE and the bed... Our first time in Edinburgh and we could not have asked for more from our accommodation than what we received at 20 Albany Street. The room was stunning & breakfast was great each morning. Our host, Denise, was helpful throughout our stay, from accommodating special breakfast requests to suggesting the best local running routes. We found the sheet of recommended... More

This has to be one of the best places to stay in Edinburgh. A friendly welcome awaits those lucky enough to book one of the three suites in this fabulous Georgian townhouse. The rooms are superb - spacious and decorated to a high standard; beds very comfortable and tea and coffee facilities in the room; glam toiletries and bathrobes are... More

Just up for a brief visit but was over the moon with my stay at the beautifully located and the wonderfully cared for 20 Albany Street. My host, Paddy was delightful (quite a character) and his breakfasts are to die for. I can't recommend the place highly enough and will certainly be returning in the future.

Amazing place to stay whilst in Edinburgh. Beautifully appointed rooms, ample comfortable shared spaces and full, delicious breakfast with pretty much whatever you like! I highly recommend the friendly, sumptuous B&B here within easy walking distance of the tram and Central Edinburgh. A much better choice than staying at a city centre hotel. Would highly recommend it!

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
