Room was somewhat on the small size but adequate. They didn't have a family room and were very accommodating to my adult son and I by bringing in a cot for one of us to sleep on. This location is very convenient to shopping, some restaurants and Edinburgh Castle. They were very good about keeping our luggage for us after... More

Arrived and asked if we could put our cases in storage - Jesus agreed but if you do want to do this, you need to make sure it's early as the store room is tiny !!! I was very happy that they could accommodate us and allow us to get on with our day. I requested top floor rooms (as... More

30 quid for a clean room in the best location pubs everywhere! I was working so couldn't take full advantage but will return! It's obviously not 5 star but if you just need a bed and shower you can't go wrong

The hotel is in a superb location right in the heart of the city. Rooms were clean and modern. I stayed in 101 which unfortunately was above a bar with live music so quite noisy until the early hours.

I am presently staying here. The hotel is fab and in a great location. Ask for a room at the back of the hotel. We are on the top floor but can't have the window open because of the buskers . They don't even sound good. They have been at it all day and most of the night.

Another stay at a well located budget hotel, using it as a base to explore Edinburgh, rooms starting to look a bit tired despite a refurb the double glazing unit in our room was missing leaving a bit of a chill and the ingress of noise from Rose Street. But as we have said it is a handy base and... More

The hotel is in the perfect location and at a bargain price. The staff were lovely, everything was clean and we could not have asked for more. Will definitely stay again and would recommend to a friend.

Stayed for one night only during Easter weekend . Location is great, hotel is located right in the city center on rose street which is one of the best tourist basis. On the face of it the room looked ok. It was spotlessly clean and modern. The problem came when I actually tried to sleep in it. The radiator made... More

Just returned from a three night stay at the travel lodge Edinburgh. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was really comfortable, with lovely crisp white bed linen. The bathroom was large and the shower powerful. We had nice white fluffy towels. Our room was on the third floor and we were not disturbed by any noise. The location was... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
