Stayed at this Travelodge in June while at a Conference in The Assembly Rooms, George Street, a short walk away. Hotel is right in the pedestrian precinct of Rose Street- in middle of Edinburgh. Rose St has many bars & restaurants. Rooms have recently been renovated & in very good order & clean. Triple Glazing cuts the noise right down.... More

We were very disappointed the standard of this travel lodge compared to others. We may have been unlucky but our room smelled of dampness on arrival. We had to open the windows to clear the air. There also seemed to be a burst pipe that had water dripping out of it all throughout our day. The location is perfect but... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights earlier this month. It's an easy walk from the train station and all the major sites of Edinburgh. A short uphill walk to the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. Lots of shops and restaurants along Rose Street to choose from. There are several pubs right outside the hotel and within a few... More

It is definitely a 'no frills' hotel, but the bed is large and very comfy and the Rose Street location means it is very close to everything you want to see and do in central Edinburgh. We thought it would be noisy but it was fine (although we were on the top floor).

I booked and paid in full at this hotel 3 months before I stayed. I wasn't able to check in until midnight and the young man behind the check in desk (who advised me he had just started his shift) advised I got a noisy room (111) it was above a bar because I was the last to check in... More

Great location in the centre of Edinburgh. Room was a good size, clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable and linen fresh. Would recommend it as long as you are not expecting anything fancy. Comfortable and basic which is what I would expect. Good soundproofing from outside so no noise even though it was right on Rose St.

I'm so glad they've dropped that gruff teddy bear from the advertising, never did like him....anyway, is this travelogical ? In terms of location yes, it's perfectly placed for good eats, the castle and the train station. As I was on business my exploration was limited ! My room was big, which made the sparse furniture look lost.....the bed was... More

This must be one of the best locations in Edinburgh for convenience to local amenities and sights if on foot. It paid to book in advance as it was only a small hotel and we saw many being turned away who had tried to book in on the night they wanted to stay. We found it really enjoyable and so... More

This Travelodge is right in the center of town, a 10 minute walk from Edinburgh Castle and full of nightlife nearby. Easy to get to from the Airport, just take the Air Link Bus to George Street. The service was great too, was able to drop off bags before check in and check out. It just gets a bit noisy... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
