Stayed at Allburys for a weekend at the beginning of the summer, wow couldn't recommend it enough to others over all the other boring hotel chains. Great service and food and the rooms are 5*. Will definitely visit again soon!

We stayed one night at Allbury's in September. It is a beautifully furnished and equipped boutique hotel. The room was spacious and very comfortable with everything you could require. The position is excellent being quiet yet convenient for the city centre. We even took a walk in the evening along the Leith Water, a pretty little river which is easily... More

Allbury's is a small boutique B & B in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh. The room was large, clean, and modernly appointed with a fabulous en-suite bathroom. The soap/shampoo were organic Highland Soap Company and smelled luxurious. The organic breakfast was divine with homemade tattie scones and gourmet coffee!

We stayed at Allburys last weekend and it was beautiful. When we arrived Derrek directed us to free parking which is practically unheard of in Edinburgh! It is a short walk away but the walk is past Douglas College one of Edinburgh's most beautiful buildings. (If you don't walk too well you can get the bus back). Our room was... More

We spent 2 nights at Allbury's two days ago. We were met by the host, Derrick, who was very helpful. Our room on the floor above ground was high quality...lovely old Edinburgh terrace with high decorative ceilings, recently renovated with high quality bathroom en suite. As there is no lift and is upstairs, would not be suitable for disabled guests.... More

I really can't add much to all the superlatives already spoken of; the scumptious beds, opulent decor and quirky, tasteful art everywhere you look. This perfect gem of a boutique hotel has it all - state of the art bathrooms, nespresso machines, decadent bedrooms, the list of detail is endless! Derrick's breakfasts are now legendary, using the best locally sourced... More

My partner and I stayed in this B&B when we recently visited Edinburgh for the weekend. This boutique B&B is by far the best we've stayed in! We were greeted with a warm welcome into a magnificent, spacious house with modern furnishings throughout. We stayed in the 'Jay' room which was amazingly spacious with a fantastic en-suite as well as... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
