Essential hotel located in the centre of Edinburgh, right by Princes Street: it is perfect for visiting the city without using cars, buses or trams . Our room had a bunk bed and was very simple, nonetheless it had everything we could ask for during a trip, high speed wi-fi, a hair dryer, an electric iron or a kettle with... More

I am struggling to properly rate this hotel. Been there in August when prices in Edinburgh are extremely high.So for the price of Hilton in London (not the cheapest destination either!) got the hotel that is quite basic: no hotel lobby, no phone in the rooms, toiletries from dispensers on the wall. I decided to go for it as fancier... More

Basic room - very small but all the essentials for a business traveler. Iron, tea/coffee, free wi-fi, water. Small breakfast room but takeaway option available. Booked last minute during Edinburgh Festival/Fringe. No frills but good value for money. Reception and breakfast room staff very friendly and welcoming.

In general nice hotel, near to the castle, next to transport stops and shopping street. 20 minutes from Grassmarket by walk. Good sleep. Limited toiletories. Limited breakfast. Coffee machine never worked, with everyday excuse and promise of will be fixed today.

Cityroomz is a Premier Inn/TravelLodge style hotel in a great location in Edinburgh. Nothing to look at from the front, but good clean room, excellent bed and big enough for a short stay. Close to the tram stop for the Airport. Other reviewers complain of stuffiness ( yes air quality isn't great, but you can open a window, and price... More

This hotel is at the end of Princes Street in the city centre, and superbly located. The double room was very small, hot and stuffy, with no air conditioning, only a noisy table fan. The window soundproofing on to the busy street was very good, but the walls were thin. The bed was not very comfortable and squeaky, with synthetic... More

Rooms are too small anda too noisy as if the room walls were made of paper. We woke up with the neighbour's alarm buzz. The hotel is not so stylish as it seems on the photos they post on their website. The entrance is very small, and looks like a hostel entrance. It's slightly out of the center of Edinburgh.... More

Thank you for leaving a review. We usually get great feedback for our central location and the style of our rooms. We do however have a number of different sized rooms including some very large family rooms, it sounds like you may have booked one of our compact double or cabin twin rooms. Great location (near to the center), ideal for visitng Edinburgh on foot. Near the hotel there are supermarkets and restaurants. In front of the hotel there is a bus stop but no noise in the room (we were on the fourth floor). The room was clean and wasn't huge but there was enough. There wasn't a wardrobe or a chest... More

We stayed here for two nights, and the room is spacious and very clean. Bed is comfy, not too noisy and reception very helpful. After living in A London hotel for a week, this bathroom was a nice change. Spacious, more up to date. Continental breakfast is decent.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
