This hotel is central, just off Princes street, the main shopping street and near to all the shops, cafes, restaurants, bars etc. It has a small reception area but the hotel itself is very clean and slept like a log here, the only con is its maybe a little bit too basic. The wifi was excellent quality also

The hotel staff is nice and helpful and the room size is quite big compare with the other hotels. Also, the location is great which just 5-10 minutes walk to princes street and the castle. However, the toilet of my room generate a pungent, penetrating odor. It makes you feel very uncomfortable. You have to open the window and use... More

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, can't fault the hotel or staff one bit. Pleasant check in & check out, clean & comfortable room & daily maid service too replacing bedding, towels & toilet rolls! The curtains blocked out all sunlight so we was not awakened by daylight & even though we had a room facing the Main Street,... More

Me and my girlfriend stayed here based on the location of the hotel, which was absolutely fantastic by the way, and the positive reviews it had already got. It did not disappoint. The room was comfortable and clean. Apart from some small stains in the shower basin the room was otherwise spotless. The bed was big and comfy and the... More

We stayed for 2 nights at Cityroomz for a Six Nations rugby weekend, and having "been there and done that" in Edinburgh before, we were looking for something reasonably priced and in a good location. Cityroomz was certainly that, as well as being comfortable and clean, albeit a bit on the dingy side. As a former Travelodge, this hotel is... More

Thank you for your review. I agree that we are in a great location and our aim is to offer excellent value & convenience. Can’t say I agree with the bit “on the dingy side”. We've had the hotel for 2 years and have spent over £500,000 refurbishing the rooms, they are far superior to the previous operator. They are... More

Was rated 9.2 on booking.com! Was handed a key for a unsupervised cupboard on the third floor to store luggage and was greeted by mouse traps! Very dingy and unhelpful staff!! Needless to say we found alternative accomadation!!!

I am very sorry we didn't meet your expectations. We recognise that the storage of guests luggage is important. As a service to our guests we store luggage before guests check in, as well as after they have checked out. We also offer fabulous value for money, in doing so we have limitations as to what our staff can do.... More

Staff was really noisy during the day. Once they tried to walk into the room in the early morning. The window didn't open in our room. The air got stuffy, once you turned off the air-conditioner. On the plus side it's very close to the main attractions and railway station.

Thank you for leaving a review, I am sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with your stay. Our housekeeping team are always very considerate when servicing rooms and always knock before entering a room, apologies if this did not happen during your stay. Thank you for your positive comments about the location and proximity to the station.... More

The first good thing is that the hotel is located close to everything (Edinburgh castle, Royal Mile, Scott monument,...) and the bus stop from and to the airport is just outside the hotel. The room was big (at least compare to others hotel I visited) and it was very clean and tidy. We had breakfast there and it was very... More

Thank you so much for a 5 star review. Thank you also for your feedback regarding luggage room security, we are in the process of fitting 24 hour CCTV in all our luggage rooms which will help overcome any security issues. Glad to hear that you also enjoyed our breakfast. Kind regards Javeed Anwar More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
