Great location (near to the center), ideal for visitng Edinburgh on foot. Near the hotel there are supermarkets and restaurants. In front of the hotel there is a bus stop but no noise in the room (we were on the fourth floor). The room was clean and wasn't huge but there was enough. There wasn't a wardrobe or a chest... More

We stayed here for two nights, and the room is spacious and very clean. Bed is comfy, not too noisy and reception very helpful. After living in A London hotel for a week, this bathroom was a nice change. Spacious, more up to date. Continental breakfast is decent.

I stayed here for two nights with a friend to do a quick visit to Edinburgh. Excellent location and close to everything on the Golden Mile and Prices Street. Everything we did was within walking distance, so if you are looking for a great location, this is it. It was a bit pricey but I can't complain on the overall... More

Honestly, this place is overpriced for what it is. Don't let the nice photos fool you, it is essentially a hostel. Small rooms, cramped facilities, and the overpriced breakfast doesn't even have boiled eggs. That said, I did like the tea making facilities in the room, and it is right around the corner from everything. Perhaps it's just overpriced because... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Apologies for the shortage of towels, we will review our processes and ensure that family rooms have more large towels. As for our rates, we feel we are competitive based on our location and what other hotels are charging, however rates can vary throughout the year and booking direct in... More

I stayed with my family for 4 nights in July 2015. First good part of the hotel. Hotel is located very near to princess street. Nearby lot of restaurants are available. Princess garden, Edinburgh Castle, Waverly railway station all are walking distance. Now negatives: Room was looking congested. We found tough time in reaching our room from the hotel lobby... More

It was an ok stay. very average.Reception just do their job but not friendly. No hellos or how are you s ,on your comes and go s. Our room was spacious but was VERY noisy. We asked for a quieter room ( apparently we have to ask first thing in the morning) and received one. Second one was small but... More

Cheap and centrally located, Nice and friendly Staff. Most of attractions with in walking distanse. Only ting lacking was a fridge in the room. Besides that 8/10. Internet Connecticut is quite reliable and a safe in the room provides comfort and safety if u need to store something during the stay.

Clean rooms - good quality bed and pillows. Good, simple bathroom. The location of the hotel is good, just around the corner from Edinburgh castle. The prices are quite high for hotels in this city so it was not cheap but oh well :)

We booked 2 rooms and one of it is the family room. Upon check-in, we were told that the rooms were not ready but we could bring our luggages to the luggage room on the 3rd storey. The luggage room is quite small and you have to carry your own luggages to the luggage room. It is not idea if... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We do have a number of small luggage rooms and a lift that gets you as close to them as possible. We do offer the left luggage facility free of charge as a guest benefit (not all hotels offer this service), however it does mean that guest have to place... More

The room is small, clean, handy to many things and priced low compared to anything else in the neighbourhood. You should be aware that the room is two single bunk beds. There is no way that you can squeeze together onto one bed. My wife and I stayed one night and walked from the hotel to Edinburgh Castle, the Royal... More

Many thanks for your kind comments. We do have other room types available including compact doubles, doubles and family rooms that sleep up to two adults and 4 children. Maybe one of our double rooms would have suited you better. Don’t forget that if you park at the castle car park and bring your ticket / coin to us, our... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
