Our visit to Edinburgh was made all the more pleasurable by Jeanette at Adam Drysdale House, she was a lovely host serving wonderful breakfasts. The room we stayed in was at the top of the house and had a great refurbished bathroom, in spite of being at the front of the house it was quiet and we slept very well,... More

We had a very comfortable stay in Adam Drysdale House. Janette was very friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. We enjoyed a lovely homecooked breakfast every day and the room was clean and nicely decorated. Location is very close to the city centre and we were able to walk everywhere.

My wife and I enjoyed a great week at Adam Drysdale house. The room was spacious and clean, the Scottish breakfast was great to wake up to each morning and Janette the landlord was friendly and always keep to help and made us feel at home. The location was also great, just a 10 ten minute walk to the city... More

We booked a twin room for the weekend for myself and my daughter When I arrived, I received a nice welcome and shown to the room. I was a little dismayed with the room which was very dated there appeared to be a lot of extensions and sticky tape about, Sticky tape on the front door, light switches wires etc.... More

My sister Sandra and I stayed for four nights at the end of August 2014. The owners are both absolutely lovely - nothing is too much trouble. Comfortable, clean rooms and a lovely breakfast. Just a short walk to the castle and Princes Street. Would most definitely stay again!

Stayed here during the Fringe! Recieved a decent rate and stayed in a newly renovated room along with our own newly renovated bathroom! Close to everything and Jeanette was very accommodating. A cozy and terrific stay.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
