We stayed 1 night. It was a fantastic location along from Murrayfield. We were upgraded to a bigger room and the lodge was super clean and welcoming. After the rugby we popped in to heat up before heading out into the City. Breakfast was fantastic and we were treated to some new white pudding & black pudding as an added... More

We stayed at this lovely B & B for two nights it's a wee bit out of the city centre in a quiet area but good bus service into the centre and quiet is what you want for a good night's sleep. The owner Murdo was very helpful re info on visitor attractions, the house and garden are lovely and well... More

It was amazing staying at the Duthus, every people, and animal, were very nice to us and we loved staying here. We are a walking distance from everything and if you can't, you have a lot of bus stops in front of the house. It is definitly a great place to stay.

Arrived early (around 1pm), but not a problem at all. Parked our car in the premises without a problem. Good room. Shower was not that fantastic, but did the job. Service could hardly be friendlier. Breakfast good. Walked into town (Princes Street) and very doable, but we took a taxi back.

Lovely hotel, very friendly owners and absolutely loved Archie (who had his 1st birthday when we were there). Room was spotlessly clean and spacious although the bathroom was quite small. Breakfast was excellent - plenty to choose from. If you had the full breakfast you didn't need to each until much later in the day! Location is good - close... More

We loved our stay at the Duthus Lodge. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the house dog, Archie, is adorable. Very convenient location to get to and from the airport. It is a little bit of a walk to all the sites, but definitely doable.

This was a great choice for us in Edinburgh. Walk to the centre of the city took only 20-25 minutes. Near the lodge, there is a large park with playground for families with young children and there is an excellent Laundromat a couple of blocks away. Perfect for those on an extended trip as we were. The lodge is on... More

Stayed with a group of friends. 10 mins walk from Haymarket station. House itself quiet (set back from main road). Had 2 x family rooms. Whilst quite cosy in size - they were clean and warm. Comfy beds. Small bathroom within the room (ie constructed in the corner) with shower etc. Again clean with a good range of toiletries. The... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
