McCrae's B&B is a comfortable, clean and friendly place. It is within walking distance of the Royal Botanic Gardens and Princes Street. We felt at home and got a good night's sleep on our first night in Edinburgh after walking the West Highland Way. John is a wonderful and friendly host, the room was spacious, including the bathroom! Very lovely,... More

We stayed in several B & Bs during our trip to Scotland, and McCrae's was by far the best of all. We enjoyed skyping our kids with the free wifi, resting on a very comfortable king size bed, and most of all, the friendly service. I highly recommend you stay here.

We can highly recommend McCrae's. We had room 1 at the front of the house and couldnt hear any traffic. The traditional wooden shutters and heavy curtains kept out all the dawn light so I slept like a log. John is helpful and accommodating and we really enjoyed our breakfast. The taxi back from town is about £7-£8 and the... More

We had a wonderful stay at McCraes's B&B in July. Our 3 children felt like home! The room was lovely and had enough space to accommodate all the 5 of us! John is a wonderful host and will allways give you a helping hand as well as his partner Sarah. The location of the B&B is perfect. The bus stop... More

Dear Irene and family, thank you for such a nice review. I'm glad you all had a nice time. Sarah is particularly pleased at being mentioned, as that was her first time helping out, due to the family emergency I had to deal with during your stay. It's good to know that I can leave the B&B in very capable... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here - well positioned (only a 15 minute walk from the Old Town), near enough to a lovely street (Broughton) with some quirky restaurants and a good coffee shop. The room was very comfortable, John (the owner) very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about city attractions. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Mc craes B&B is pllaced in newtown, near to oldtown (only 15 min walk). The B&B is beside Broughton Street (5min) where you will find a great choice of restaurants and pubs. The rooms (3) are comfortable and quiet. John is very friendly and helpful. We recommend McCraes B&B to everyone! It was a great time in Edinburgh! Silvia @Alexander

My 14-year old son picked McCraes' B&B by looking at a picture on TripAdvisor. It met all his expectations and more. Other reviews have already mentioned the host, John, and I agree with all that was said. He was not fussy about taking our rented bikes downstairs so that they were safely stored. Worth mentioning is that John serves, as... More

Thank you for a great review Tatjana. I'm glad you both enjoyed your stay and that our organic and eco-friendly efforts were appreciated. 'Best haggis in Scotland' is a bold statement but I think Findlays are in a position to say this without having to worry too much about any disagreement. They also supply the bacon I use and many... The location is ideal for spending a relaxed break in the city, 15 mins from the centre, a great range of places to eat on the doorstep. The rooms are well decorated and very comfortable, breakfast is just right. John is there if you need him but otherwise gives you space to do your own thing. Simply said it is... More

My wife and I stayed at McCrae's B&B last month for three nights. We thoroughly enjoyed Edinburgh and our stay at John's B&B. John is a wonderful host!
