You should stay here. End of story. Don't go for the breakfast. It is lame and expensive. There are plenty of great food places around. Just ask the door men. They NEVER pointed us in a wrong direction. Cheers!

Over three years of travelling to Edinburgh on business up until now have not found a hotel I would happily return too, Hotel Missoni will always have my reservation in future. The Hotel is refreshingly modern (with no dark wood to be found) The room we stayed in spacious and clean. Big plus having the free DVD/Music Videos in the... More

I have had the good fortune to stay at some fabulous international five-star hotels over the years, but I have never experienced service of this quality. Quite exceptional. Truly fault free. What a rarity. From the moment we arrived, it became clear that nothing - absolutely nothing - was too much trouble. The hotel operates a brilliant 'Universal Concierge' system:... More

We stayed here for New Year. The hotel stands proud on the Royal Mile and the moment you approach it's atmosphere hits you. Friendly doormen wearing Missoni kilts meet and greet and assist you from the onset. The reception staff are warm and friendly too and I have to say I was checking reviews for the Missoni for months and... More

My wife treated me to a night here as an early Birthday present. On arrival the porters and reception staff were very helpful without being overbearing. Our room was a decent size. Well decoreated as would be expected. No sign of the DVD player or iPlayer dock though - a call to reception explained that we'd need a cable for... More

Dear ‘iainmmm’, Thank you for your kind comments about our wonderful staff. I was pleased to hear that you found the service provided in both the Reception and the Bar to be efficient and helpful. It is unfortunate that your breakfast experience was not up to our usual high standards, I am sorry that you had to wait to order... More

Great location. The staff were very friendly and helpful where ever we encountered them. The rooms were well proportioned and spotlessly clean. The walk in shower was lovely and the beds were comfortable. The added bonuses of free wifi, complimentary mini bar and free movies in the room were a pleasant suprise too. We did have a drink in the... More

We have stayed in the hotel with my boyfriend travelling around UK and it was indeed an excellent choice! The location of the hotel could not be better - just few minutes walk to the castle! Room was spacious and beautiful with fantastic Missoni features very colourful and bright! Few disadvantages are the lack of wet zone, although its saying... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
