Lovely room, huge clean newly upgraded bathroom (apart from the shower which was old, luke warm and pathetic) and bedroom roomy enough and had lots of lovely touches (but a big gap under the door!). The owner had warned us that as she had a bad leg (as she had 4 years ago when we last stayed) breakfast would only probably be scrambled egg. However, it wasn't even scrambled egg. Help yourself to cereals and a lovely fruit bowl and toast. Warm nasty greasy croissants were offered as the only hot offering. For £100 for the two of us, this is way over-priced. We had breakfast at 8:30 and back in our room at 9:15, the bed had already been stripped - not very friendly! more

When we arrived we were welcomed by Sue and her very cute golden retriever, the house has private parking in a paved part of the garden which the room overlooks, very secure. Sue then showed us to our room and then asked us when we would like breakfast, giving us a choice of continental or cooked breakfast.

The room had a very decent sized double bed with an en-suite bathroom, kettle with a selection of hot drinks, flatscreen tv and a very nice view overlooking over the garden. There were a number of leaflets on local attractions and ,when we asked, Sue provided us with a useful map of the town centre.

We were close enough to walk into town, takes about 10 to 15 minutes, The house is in a valley so the only slight downside is the hill you have to walk up! However I would say that small negative is definitely outweigh by how peaceful it is, we could have been in the countryside not the centre of Edinburgh!
