Hotel Du VIn is part of a larger group that takes buildings and breaths new life into them. this they have done to great effect again here in Edinburgh. Big Baths and simple but fine rooms. The restaurant appears popular so my advise is book a table before you arrive! on this occasion we had to go across to the... more

We stayed here for the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The hotel is very beautifully styled in the usual Hotel du Vin manner, the staff were friendly and personal - they showed us to our room individually etc - and the room was very comfortable. As someone else has commented the shower is fantastic and they supply really nice Arran... more

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and efficient, they made us feel very welcome when we checked in and were pleasant throughout our stay. We stayed in one of the regular rooms which was overlooking the courtyard. The room was very nice and spacious with a large comfy bed. It had a big flat screen TV and DVD... more

this hotel was nice but they nickel and dime you to death. small rooms. no movie channels or anything on the tv. spotty internet that goes off every 30 mins. they charged my friend 15 pounds to borrow a plug adapter. it does have very impeccable service though, and a nice bar. we paid 125 pounds for one room, not... more

The only downside to this hotel was the size of the double room - slightly on the small side. The bathroom was lovely with a monsoon shower and roll top bath. Food delicious and staff very attentive. Nice location slightly away from the centre so not too much noise. more

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in June... gorgeous hotel!! On a par with their sister company Malmaison although a bit more natural looking!! Room was lovely, bathroom even lovelier with monsoon shower and freestanding bath! Hotel is in a great location on Bristo place just off the George 4th Bridge and very near the royal mile. Didn't eat... more

We stayed here for four nights during the festival and loved it. Our top floor suite (Veuve Cliquot) was just plain gorgeous with both a fabulous separate bathroom and freestanding bathtub in the bay window of the bedroom. HdV Edinburgh would sit very comfortably in the pages of Wallpaper magazine. I would describe the decor as warm, sophisticated, well thought... more

We stayed over the bank holiday weekend and found the hotel pretty damn good compared to many boutique business hotels we've stayed in, if a wee bit pricey. We had a suite on the top floor which was a little hard to reach but well worth the walk. It was large and comfortable, had lots of different zones which made... more

Aug 31, 2009 | Trip type: Business

I stayed at the Hotel du Vin in Edinburgh on a fairly recent business trip and had a very enjoyable stay. My bedroom was small but perfect for a single occupancy, the decor was beautiful (love the Farrow and Ball paints) and the under floor heating in the bathroom was a real added bit of luxury. Another member of our... more

Ate at the Bistro. Busy and quite noisy - making it at times difficult to have a conversation without shouting. Food was good - partner had haddock cassoullet which she enjoyed. I had a rib-eye steak which was excellent, tender and flavoursome. Desserts lovely - but £7 for a panna cotta seems a bit stiff. Very helpful and knowlegeable sommelier.... more
