Booked 8 Piershill sq for a visit to Edinburgh and it became "unavailable' on the day we flew into Edinburgh airport. Was then directed to an apartment in the seedy part of Edinburgh at 11.30 at night but couldn't get in due to keys not fitting the lock. Then had to find alternative accommodation after midnight!

We have been cancelled our booking after complete payment done. They say the company is closing down, but you can request for a booking right now. It seems they have had a better offer for our stay. Of course, we get most of our money back, but we have had to pay a bit more now that we'd have to... More

The location is absolutely amazing. Walk out the back door and you are on the royal mile. We attended the Military Tattoo and were back in our room less than five minutes later!! That said, the apartments themself were just so - so. In 8A the futon covers were stained and the overall appearance of the room was not that... More

We stayed in the penthouse at Mound Apartments as a group of friends for a weekend in late April. You couldn't hope for a better location, just five minutes walk from the station a back door on to the royal mile and minutes away from Edinburgh Castle, pubs, restaurants and shops. The apartment is clean, modern and extremely spacious but... More

The apartment is so good. We slept so well on a wonderful mattress. The rooms were excellent and have been re-furbished. The heating was excellent and kept us very warm on some cold December days. The kitchen had everything we needed. All the rooms had such interesting views with the front rooms overlooking Princes Street and looking on to the... More

We enjoyed two days in Edinburgh at the Mound apartments. What a perfect location, just around the corner from Royal Mile, 5 minutes to all shops. The apartment was great, just what we needed, all amenities including laundry facilities if needed. We were on 5th floor but there is a lift, fantastic views. The Wash cafe beneath the apartment does... More

We recently enjoyed a four day break with two families + 1 sharing in the pent house at Mound Apartments on North Bank Street. The property is so spacious it felt like our own personal tardis finding rooms, corridors and little cubby holes to explore. The views from the apartment are breathtaking and look almost like perfectly framed pictures by... More

We were very pleased with the location of the apartment. It was in walking distance to everything! The apartment was up to date and well equipped to keep us feeling at ease for our two week holiday. We even used the kitchen a bunch. It's a very cosy apartment, just big enough for my husband and I. There was some... More

We spent a whole month in the apartment on the 8th floor and were absolutely happy about it. At first sight it looked small, but then we moved the furniture a bit and suddenly it was spacious enough. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen equipement worked very well and we had everything we needed. And as it was written many... More

This penthouse apartment on the 9th floor was perfect for us. The back-door led out onto the upper end of the Royal Mile and the views over Edinburgh to the coast and beyond were phenomenal. The bathroom was the only disappointing part as the door didn't lock and the shower was rubbish. Well equiped kitchen and huge central dining and... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
