We stayed at Masson House for 5 nights and found it to be such a central location, with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast included as part of the stay was a big help, with lots of tasty options to start the day. The rooms were clean and serviced daily. Would stay again - thanks to the staff for their... On arriving at Masson house we where pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very clean and well presented and the staff are very nice and helpful. The hotel is really easy to reach by public transport as there are quite a few buses which stop very close to the hotel and the walk from the city centre isn't too bad. The... More

Stayed a Saturday night here - a busy one, as there was a golf tournament in town. However, booking this only a few weeks in advance the price was still quite reasonable. The service at the check was a bit slow - but friendly and accommodating. The room a bit small, but quite ok. The highlight was the breakfast buffet... More

This wouldn't have been an obvious choice for me, but it was ideal as I was attending a function in St Leonard's Hall and I was literally just two minutes' walk away. Being part of Pollock Halls, there's not much by way of atmosphere but the room was spotless, well appointed and comfortable. Staff were lovely too. Situated a little... More

I was visiting my friend who was on an exchange at the University of Edinburgh. She lived on the student accommodation in Pollock halls so Masson House was my best option as it was inexpensive and within close proximity of my friend's room. The room was small, but it was more than enough for a lone traveller and the English... More

I stayed at Masson House for 2 weeks, with half the trip being business. Upon arrival from the US on a red eye and being exhausted, the lift was not working, but I was given assistance getting my bags to the 2nd floor. The rooms are small and a bit dated- definitely college residence hall style (which they were at... More

Located in the University campus it reminds me the good old days of my hostel life in university. Connected by a few bus routes it is easily within reach from Waverley station with 15-20 minutes. It is a green and quiet place, and the staff members are friendly, cheerful and helpful. The room is compact but it has everything you... More

Masson House is fabulous. it was built as student accommodation - each room has ensuite shower room, tv, desk, wardrobe, heating and opening windows. The rooms are clean and the bed really comfortable. I slept like a log. The view out of the windows is of trees and gardens and it is very peaceful with no issue of loud noise... More

Excellent! Not your normal run of the mill hotel as this is based on University campus. But standard of service, efficiency and breakfast were second to none! The room was compact but had everything you needed. The mattress was very comfortable but would suggest they use mattress protectors. Loved the blinds on the windows to block out light to sleep.... Price was very good including free wifi, parking and breakfast (buffet & cooked). It seems to be reasonably close to the centre and had excellent views of Holyrood Park. There were however no facilities once breakfast was over and no bar. The rooms were reasonably sized with a large wet room. I belive the building used to be a hall... More
