It is a very good place to stay for a short break. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was basic and clean, but the shower drain was blocked. There is a typical scotland coffe break. It is a good hotel for the price!

Masson House is one of the choices that offers accommodation at reasonable prices in Edinburgh City if you're an independent traveller. You will feel right at home in this modern and extremely comfortable guest accommodation. Few nights stay after a Hihglamd hiking vacation. Typical accommodation, bit worn out and you could hear the doors opening and closing. Own bathroom/WC was a plus. Bed was good and breakfast really fullfilling. Breakfast was served in University cafeteria buffet style. Bus stup just few meter away from the yard area, good connection to city center. This is kind... More

We stayed at masson house for a night as it was the only hotel that we could find on a late booking. We were pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was basic but clean, the breakfast was excellent. A good choice and the fry up was fab. We will definitely stay again.

When I first arrived here, I was a little disappointed. It's located in the middle of a campus, and the building all look like student halls and rather impersonal - not quite what I had in mind for a birthday treat.. once inside the lobby looked more like a basic hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They... More

We travelled here as part of a large group who were competing at the Edinburgh Commonwealth Pool. The location was perfect as the pool is next door. Parking is free, which is a plus, but limited. The receptionist was friendly and more than helpful pointing out everything we needed for our stay. The room, although small and basic, was clean... More

I stayed 3 nights for business. The hotel is more university accommodation than hotel, with small rooms but it was clean and had everything you need. Location was great, right next to Holyrood Park; great for a walk up Arthur's Seat, and walking distance to Holyrood Palace and The Royal Mile. There was also a decent pub close by for... More

Needed a hotel for a couple of nights at short notice and can't believe our luck at finding Masson House. Room and ensuite small but very clean with everything you need. Staff extremely courteous and helpful. The breakfast was amazing; cold and hot buffet with a huge selection - including lots of fresh fruit (no tinned grapefruit!). Hotel is a... More

Located on the university halls of residence site, easy access to the southern half of the city but a bit far from the city centre. Modest hotel with small rooms and fairly basic features, but everything works as it should. Breakfast was definitely a highlight. Parking is free but not that plentiful, so at busy times you might struggle to... More

Great stay. Room basic but very clean and had everything we needed. The hotel was a very short walk from a bus stop which was very handy for getting into the centre. Breakfast was excellent; a continental buffet as well as a hot cooked breakfast. The staff couldn't do enough for us. All in all, a really lovely stay!
