The reviewers who complained about the rooms being plain sorta missed the point--this was a prize-winning hotel in the minimalist style when it was introduced. stayed at the point hotel from june 25-july 2, we absolutely love it. the staff is very friendly and helpful. the room we had, room 313 is absolutely wonderful, 2 single beds and a pull out couch, very large (wheel chair accessible) washroom, tons of room in the room. This place was radically different from normal hotels. The walls were psychedellic colours like neon yellow and red. The ambience was totally unique, and stark, and had an appealing quality to it. We stayed at the Mercure Point during the heineken cup week and even if it was a bit noicy our overall stay was great. The staff was very helpful by giving us direction and providing us with a map of the area. The decor, I guess it is a matter of taste. The Point has a great location, friendly staff, and very large rooms--but it's let down a bit by a lack of attention to detail.
