We really enjoyed our two-night stay here. Gerry, our host was welcoming, friendly, and very helpful with tips for getting around on the bus and with tips for places to eat, etc. Breakfast room was cheery and bright, and the breakfast very tasty! If I'm ever in Edinburgh again, I would definitely stay here.

The ratio quality / price does not match expectations. Lacking a common room and the rooms are too small, otherwise you decide to get a great one, with three or four beds. It's not so far from the city centre only if you get a bus. It's interest for a traveller with a car, because there is a little parking... More

First a great location in a very quiet cul-de- sac only 2 minutes from a bus stop and thereafter about 7 minutes from the Royal Mile. Salisbury Craggs, Arthur's Seat, Holyrood House and the Scottish Parliament are a brisk walk. Rooms are very comfortable and clean well equipped with comfortable bed and pillows and en-suite with gels ,soaps etc. At... More

This place oozes class all the way through. Rooms very well furnished and decorated, guidebooks and advice aplenty, and very nice breakfast (especially the salmon and scrambled eggs). Taxis are easy to call, as everybody knows the place. The Rick Steves book recommends it, and he was spot on. The only gripe is that wi-fi works only sporadically (I'd say... More

Great place to stay in Edinburgh. Very clean and comfortable. Nice, bright, and cheerful breakfast room, with friendly and helpful staff. Around the corner from the bus stop that will take you to the city center. We stayed in the family room, located over the breakfast room, while my mom stayed in the ground floor room at the back of... More

The place has a four-star rating and it's not a joke. I'd give it six stars if the WiFi worked a bit better, the room was slightly bigger, and the guesthouse had an elevator. - A beautiful house, with high ceilings, beautiful lamp shades, beautiful curtains, lovely view of the garden and Arthur's Seat (hill) behind the neighbourhood. - Proprietor... We stayed in room 2 at the Gil Dun for two nights from 26th to 28th of May. Our room with en suite was very nicely decorated to a high standard and equipped with everything necessary for a very enjoyable stay. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of food from full Scottish to fresh fruit, porridge and yoghurt. We... More

We had a lovely stay at this property! It is a quaint Georgian style property with beautifully decorated bedrooms which are immaculately presented! Lovely stylish furnishings and a lovely comfy bed! Loved the big bay window in our room which let in a lot of light and had lovely views of the pretty gardens below! Hosts were very friendly and... More

Stayed in Room 6 for 2 nights. Location is perfect, plenty of regular buses to take you straight into Edinburgh just a short walk from hotel. Breakfast was very good. Billy & Maggie very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Would stay again. Don't pay City prices when you can stay here for much less and be just as comfortable.

I stayed for 3 nights in the single room (room 5, on the first floor). The room/the house is beautifully decorated and it is also very very very clean. The private bathroom is only a few steps cross in the hallway. The shower is fantastic also. The room is small, but highly functional, with tea making facilities. Breakfast is excellent... More
