We booked for 2 nights at the last minute to go to the Fringe. We received a very warm welcome from Gerry and were instantly impressed with the quality of the place, Our Room (number 3) was spacious with a double and a single bed and lovely bathroom all finished to a very high standard. The City centre was just... More

This was a first time experience for my 62 year old mother to Scotland and Edinburgh. I've never been happier to have my choice of accomodation being influenced by Tripadvisor because it is indeed a most wonderful guesthouse. The fact that the guest house is not situated in the city centre means peace and quite since it's located in a... More

Lovely friendly guest house within walking distance (for us!) to the city, but good buses close by too. Very comfortable room with lovely en-suite shower. We stayed for 4 nights in the family room as we were travelling with one of our teenage children. Gerry and Billy are extremely charming and very helpful, including looking after our luggage on the... More

Stayed here for 3 nights as we were seeing the Edinburgh Tattoo. On arrival we were met by Gerry who made us very welcome. Our room(6) was very nicely decorated and had plenty of space for clothes. It was very clean. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choices. A brilliant place to stay about 20 minutes walk from... More

We stayed at Gil Dun Guest house for 5 nights. Arrived July 28 and departed August 2. We were met at the door by Gerry. He and Bill proved to be most gracious and friendly hosts. Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking Spence St. The room was nicely appointed and cleaned daily. The breakfast each morning was delicious.... More

We really enjoyed our two-night stay here. Gerry, our host was welcoming, friendly, and very helpful with tips for getting around on the bus and with tips for places to eat, etc. Breakfast room was cheery and bright, and the breakfast very tasty! If I'm ever in Edinburgh again, I would definitely stay here.

The ratio quality / price does not match expectations. Lacking a common room and the rooms are too small, otherwise you decide to get a great one, with three or four beds. It's not so far from the city centre only if you get a bus. It's interest for a traveller with a car, because there is a little parking... More

First a great location in a very quiet cul-de- sac only 2 minutes from a bus stop and thereafter about 7 minutes from the Royal Mile. Salisbury Craggs, Arthur's Seat, Holyrood House and the Scottish Parliament are a brisk walk. Rooms are very comfortable and clean well equipped with comfortable bed and pillows and en-suite with gels ,soaps etc. At... More

This place oozes class all the way through. Rooms very well furnished and decorated, guidebooks and advice aplenty, and very nice breakfast (especially the salmon and scrambled eggs). Taxis are easy to call, as everybody knows the place. The Rick Steves book recommends it, and he was spot on. The only gripe is that wi-fi works only sporadically (I'd say... More

Great place to stay in Edinburgh. Very clean and comfortable. Nice, bright, and cheerful breakfast room, with friendly and helpful staff. Around the corner from the bus stop that will take you to the city center. We stayed in the family room, located over the breakfast room, while my mom stayed in the ground floor room at the back of... More
