I've stayed at the Waterfront apartments on several occasions - business & leisure, and everytime it has been most enjoyable.
The apartments are situated to the north of the city, overlooking the Firth or Forth. They are not in central Edinburgh, but it's only £8 or so in a cab, although it can take a while due to the traffic (15-20 mins or so?).
OK, it's not The George Hotel (you're not paying George Hotel prices), but you do get LOTS of space in the apartment - which is far better than a pokey hotel room. You get 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms (although there are some 1 beds apartments), kitchen area, TV, sofa, etc. Yes - they are a bit soul-less, but it's nice to have the space - especially if you're there for a few days.
Remember - this is not a hotel, so you don't get hotel facilities (bar, restaurant, swimming pool, concierge, etc), but you're staying in Edinburgh - so who wants to hang around a hotel bar anyway? There is a Loch Fyne restaurant at the top of the road... more
