Tidy and very fresh room Comfortable room Slept well They had thought about all the extra small details that make a difference Only minus was the steep staircase down to where the rooms were located. BB situated near the city centre about 10 min walk. Lots of nice restaurants and cafés nearby

Loved everything. The ultimate travel experience. Norrie and Sharon Ramsay made our stay in Edinburgh feel like we were at home. Their cozy and conveniently located B&B is only a short walk (albeit uphill) to all that Edinburgh has to offer. They have added many extra little touches to the rooms - hot chocolate, cookies (biscuits) and coffee in the... More

Ramsay's B&B was a great location for our first stay in Glasgow....tween East and West right on main thouroughfare. Walking everywhere was easy. Clean, neat, great breakfast with chef on hand. Could not have had a better stay. We will be back.

Arrived earlier than supposed to, no problem at all... Family own B&B. Felt welcome as if I was visiting family.. Owner came out to pick up the baggages, told us where to park. Place close to the Royal Mile and Edimburgh Castle easily accessible by foot. Great breakfast, room cosy and clean. If ever going back to Edimburgh will go... More

The breakfast was terrific, with lots of great options, plus coffee or tea. wonderful. The location is very convenient, and certainly walkable if you don't mind rolling your luggage up or down a few cobbled streets. We had a room below the street, and were never disturbed by street (car or people) noise. Norrie gave us some great recommendations for... More

I cannot say enough positive things about Ramsay's! We arrived on a rainy afternoon and were greeted with the warmest welcome. The room was large, warm and friendly. Even had special outlets with USB ports for charging our electronics. The location was great to walk to all the attractions and they even helped a friend who was staying at a... More

Thank you Sharon and Norrie! A great stay! I would recommend this B&B VERY HIGHLY! Great breakfast, try the porridge with whisky! They have beautiful clean rooms and friendly proprietors that make you feel welcome and special. The neighborhood is very close to everything and there are several good restaurants and pubs less than a minute's walk from the B&B.... More

Norrie and Sharon were very accommodating - storing our luggage before checkin and after checkout, giving us suggestions for interesting sites in Edinburgh, and helping me troubleshoot wifi connection problems on my iPad. The Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, Calton Hill, and the National Botanical Garden were all within walking distance. Ramsay's is highly recommended.

Was traveling with my daughter, two of us only . Was looking for a place that would be family friendly and quiet .Ramsay's is definitely the place. Booked for 2 nights there and planned for other hotels afterwards .. ended up staying at Ramsay's B&B the whole trip. Sharon and Norie's local knowledge about the place is excellent.. This really... Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
