Thank you Sharon and Norrie! A great stay! I would recommend this B&B VERY HIGHLY! Great breakfast, try the porridge with whisky! They have beautiful clean rooms and friendly proprietors that make you feel welcome and special. The neighborhood is very close to everything and there are several good restaurants and pubs less than a minute's walk from the B&B.... More

Norrie and Sharon were very accommodating - storing our luggage before checkin and after checkout, giving us suggestions for interesting sites in Edinburgh, and helping me troubleshoot wifi connection problems on my iPad. The Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, Calton Hill, and the National Botanical Garden were all within walking distance. Ramsay's is highly recommended.

Was traveling with my daughter, two of us only . Was looking for a place that would be family friendly and quiet .Ramsay's is definitely the place. Booked for 2 nights there and planned for other hotels afterwards .. ended up staying at Ramsay's B&B the whole trip. Sharon and Norie's local knowledge about the place is excellent.. This really... If you decide to spend a few days in Edinburgh you should definitely come to Ramsay's B&B! Sharon and Norrie are two wonderful people who make you feel at home with their kindness, hospitality and their wonderful food! Rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and tidy; the bathroom is spacious and comfortable, there is everything you might need (hairdryer, soap, shampoo,... More

Stayed in room 1, which we realised was quite going to petite. The toilet/shower is next door and it was tucked into a side passage that meant the sink was very hard to use effectively. Apart from that - we were made very welcome and the breakfast choices were excellent. Would return, but not to room 1.

Don't waste time looking anywhere else. Stay here. You won't be disappointed. Stayed here last night and would say its the best bed and breakfast ive stayed at. Every single thing from the minute I arrived was amazing. Norrie greeted me and showed me round. A really lovely man. I was given room 2. Stunning. Had a very restful sleep.... More

Stay here, it is perfect. Breakfast was amazing with lots of choice. The coffee was really good and the orange juice seemed to be freshly squeezed! The hosts were very attentive and friendly. The room was a lovely and nice and warm to come home to after a day out in the Edinburgh cold.

This is definitely one of the best B&Bs I've stayed at, and I choose them over hotels on a regular basis. Places like Ramsay's are the reason why: owners who care deeply that you have a great time and do whatever is in their power to make it happen. The place is impeccable, with neat decorating schemes for each room.... More

Ramsay's B&B is a light filled place with friendly, informative and helpful owners. Norry and Sharon welcomed us and made our stay comfortable. The room was warm, the beds were great, the bathroom so clean, the breakfasts delicious and, the view from our room to the garden, inviting, even in the cold of early spring. I would recommend this B&B... More

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
