Stay here, it is perfect. Breakfast was amazing with lots of choice. The coffee was really good and the orange juice seemed to be freshly squeezed! The hosts were very attentive and friendly. The room was a lovely and nice and warm to come home to after a day out in the Edinburgh cold.

This is definitely one of the best B&Bs I've stayed at, and I choose them over hotels on a regular basis. Places like Ramsay's are the reason why: owners who care deeply that you have a great time and do whatever is in their power to make it happen. The place is impeccable, with neat decorating schemes for each room.... More

Ramsay's B&B is a light filled place with friendly, informative and helpful owners. Norry and Sharon welcomed us and made our stay comfortable. The room was warm, the beds were great, the bathroom so clean, the breakfasts delicious and, the view from our room to the garden, inviting, even in the cold of early spring. I would recommend this B&B... More

I cannot say enough about this B&B. I had family and friends over for a rugby weekend and it was my responsibility to book the accommodation. I decided from the reviews here I would book this B&B and it didn't disappoint. The owners Sharon and Nori are two of the nicest, friendliest people you could meet. From when my relatives... More

We stayed at Ramsay's last Saturday night Feb 28th. I was lucky enough to book the last room available. Anything I write here will probably not do the place or it's owner's justice. From the moment we arrived, the owner Norrie, could not have been friendlier or more helpful, offering advice on local sites, pubs and restaurants . He was... More

Very comfortable super clean stylish room...with a superking sized bed with crisp linen. Fabulous host very helpful and welcoming who offered us a wee dram of whiskey. Breakfast was nice and tasty ..top tip if your driving parking is free from 18.00 pn a Friday night for the weekend. Fabulous location stop in the middle of everything .

Lovely stay in this spotlessly clean B&B. The hosts, Sharon and Norrie, couldn't have been kinder, more helpful or more accommodating if they tried. The breakfast was amazing and plentiful (definitely didn't need lunch!!!). Particularly thoughtful was the plentiful veggie breakfast and the fact that, knowing I was veggie, they had bought extra veggie options for me. All in all... More

We were lucky to find this perfect place to stay in Edinburgh. Norman the owner was very welcoming and helpful in giving us pointers as to how to get about Edinburgh and visit the places we wanted to go to. The breakfast was awesome and the room clean and comfortable. We were mistakenly overcharged in a store we went to... More

I stayed in this wonderful B and B with my mum for a 3 night pre shopping trip. I had booked it based on the reviews on TA and I am so glad I did. From communication pre trip to a hug at the front door on leaving Sharron and Norrie couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. The whole... More

Just back from 3 nights at Ramsays and I can' t say how fab it was! From booking and the travel instructions (just down from York Place - last stop on tram), to the great greeting (with a nice wee nip!) to hints and ideas. Sharon and Norrie were both so helpful when my husband got ill (now recovered), making... More

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
