Excellent location, great breakfast and friendly owners. The room is clean and comfortable, with fast WiFi. There are various choice of breakfast, including traditional English breakfast and light fresh fruits and smoked salmon. Most important of all, the owner is very nice and hospitable, like to chat with guests, and give lots of information you need.

Hosts swore at me several times, assaulted there daughter in front of me and several guests, spat in my food because I asked politely for something else. Not good value for money. I do not reccomend you stay here.

I cannot recommend this place more highly. We had the best stay and the hospitality was incredible. So friendly and welcoming - even when we had flight delays, the owners couldn't be more understanding. We will always stay here when we visit Edinburgh. Thank you xx

I don't know if I was lucky ( I and my party), but my journey in Scotland was perfect, hospitality, politeness, availability of personnel were outstanding. I have been travelling for almost 2000 Kms, on both larger and smaller roads, without any problems. The road directions were well organised and was very easy to reach the different destinations. Monuments, castles,... More

Friendly owners, excellent location, comfortable rooms and a good choice of breakfasts. Would definitely recommend to anyone planning a trip to Edinburgh. Plenty of pubs/bars and restaurants nearby and only 10 minutes walk to Waverley on Princes Street or to the Botanic Gardens in the other direction.

We had a fantastic one night stay here. We came in extremely early and Norrie was able to hold our bags while we sleepily explored Edinburgh. The room and bathroom were a good size and clean. Nice touches of coffee and tea with a few biscuits so you could have something before breakfast if wanted. Included breakfast choices were varied... More

Tidy and very fresh room Comfortable room Slept well They had thought about all the extra small details that make a difference Only minus was the steep staircase down to where the rooms were located. BB situated near the city centre about 10 min walk. Lots of nice restaurants and cafés nearby

Loved everything. The ultimate travel experience. Norrie and Sharon Ramsay made our stay in Edinburgh feel like we were at home. Their cozy and conveniently located B&B is only a short walk (albeit uphill) to all that Edinburgh has to offer. They have added many extra little touches to the rooms - hot chocolate, cookies (biscuits) and coffee in the... More

Ramsay's B&B was a great location for our first stay in Glasgow....tween East and West right on main thouroughfare. Walking everywhere was easy. Clean, neat, great breakfast with chef on hand. Could not have had a better stay. We will be back.

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
