This hotel is in an old Victorian building, we had a large room on the 3rd floor with great views over the city. As it is just a few minutes walk from haymarket station and off tHe main road, it is really quite with no road noise at all, fantastic. The staff were all helpful and friendly, shout out to... More

Stayed here last November and it was a great stay. The room was a lot larger than most Travelodge rooms and there was two massive windows which were great. The hotel may be a little dated but it is still clean and a beautiful building. Can't fault it for the price. Would definitely stay again.

There is a lot of negative comments about this hotel. But we found it fine. It's a Travelodge and does what it says on the tin. A average place to stay while exploring Edinburgh at a good price. If you want somewhere better, then pay for it. Staff were friendly. Admittedly though the floorboards are very creaky and noisy.

Needed inexpensive stop over for bereavement, being familiar with location chose TRAIN rather than Car as parking is virtually impossible /Expensive. On arrival it was apparent that the place is run on a tight shoestring budget ....NO REception staff as A LONE lady was obviously multi-tasking elsewhere.. Staff where friendly and helpful but obviously very Understaffed. Room acceptable but not... More

Lovely, welcoming and polite staff. Our room was a good size and was really nice and clean. The building was lovely and had character, only a 20 min walk from the centre of Edinburgh, and only a few mins walk away from Haymarket station. Only negative is that the hotel was quite noisy, likely due to building/electrical works going on.... More

A dated hotel...yes an old building but improvements are necessary. Our room had furniture which was old fashioned and battered looking and the floorboards creaked very loudly!! Only one set of towels....and tap wouldn't turn off properly.

Hotel was clean, rooms were spacious. Not fancy or highly decorated. TV's were small, few channels and not always good reception. Limited to half hour free wifi, costs a lot for varying amounts of it. Breakfast was good. For the price it was good value compared to other places we stayed while on vacation

Stayed here with my boyfriend for two nights over easter weekend. The hotel itself is clean and comfy. The pressure of the shower could be alot better... the floor boards were absolutley terrible! Sooo loud! We were woken 6am by the people above because of floor boards. Also there is no car park!! We couldnt get a space on the... More

Chose the Haymarket Travelodge because of combination of price and proximity to Haymarket station. - easy walking distance, even with luggage. Comfortable stay, welcoming reception team. Convenient cafe/bar with good selection of meals/snacks that is bright and welcoming. Only disappointment was the limit of 30 mins. for free Wi-Fi, though the £3 charge of 24 hrs is reasonable and would... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
