Worst night sleep ever. Room was not clean. Windows were rattling with the wind all night. Didn't expect to find a mattress on the floor in a family room. Skips full of rubbish at the entrance. The only positive thing is the location. Very easy to walk to shops

This is a basic hotel, with all you need but no frills. It is clean, quiet, in a nice part of town. Staff was friendly. The Only negative thing i would say is that they ask for an extra early check-in fee at 13:00. We could leave the luggage for free. Only from 15:00 it is free.

The walking distance is not that far, we got there in about 40 minutes of walking from the city center. The check-in was fast and the staff were polite, the stay was enjoyable and the view was great. The room looked perfect, everything was in its place and clean. Internet was fine and the neighborhood was quiet. We did not... More

Stayed as a family with 2 rooms booked. Staff pleasant, rooms astonishingly huge, comfortable and clean. We didn't use the bar or restaurant as we were meeting friends elsewhere, but they looked inviting. Short walk into city centre, also very handy for haymarket train station. Parking outside was onstreet and expensive during the day, but the hotel info tells you... More

We needed a stopover hotel handy to Western General Hospital and Haymarket, so this travelodge suited us very well. Room 304 is large and has a lovely view over the Dean valley to the hills beyond. The bed was very comfortable, and the amenities of both bedroom and bathroom were basic but perfectly adequate. The staff were friendly, efficient and... More

The hotel has new decor and is fairly spacious for the price. Room and bathroom was clean. Staff are approacable and friendly. Creaky floor boards made the stay in the room annoying. The bed on the otherhand was amazing. For me it had the perfect mattress and you will have a very comfortable sleep. We walked it to Edinburgh castle... More

Yes this hotel is a budget option and I definitely got a good deal, paying less than forty pounds for a single night mid-week stay. Despite this though I was left rather under whelmed and would hunt out an alternative on another comparable visit to the city. Location wise it's great, just a few minutes walk from the Haymarket train... More

1st May - 4th May 2015 I attended Edinburgh for my Stag do with 10 friends so I booked 4 rooms with 2 & 3 person's sharing. I booked this Travel lodge as I stayed here last year with my girlfriend and we had a good impression left on us. The room's are spacious however we were 11 grown men... More

Great views, large family room with decent bathroom and warm reception at the front desk. We had a family room and while the double bed was comfortable, the trundle bed for my teenage daughter was horrible so she slept with me - not a good night's sleep. Again, no bathmat. Great location and great price.

We have just stayed here for 4 nights so we could explore Edinburgh, yes it's an old building so expect poor water pressure and creaky floorboards! The staff are very nice and helpful, rooms are nice, breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice ie full English, toast and also continental options too. A great base to explore from, Haymarket station... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
