Nov 24, 2009 | Trip type: Family New

We booked this hotel at a very reasonable rate through laterooms, as we were going to a family function 2 miles away. As others say, don't be put off by the outside, though we would never have stopped here if we were looking for accommodation on chance, it really does need done up. Receptionist was very nice, and asked if... more

Stayed here as a stop off on way to Prestwick airport, only took about 30 mins to get to airport in the morning. Staff were very nice and even offered us cereal at half passed 5 in the morning when we were leaving to catch our flight. Rooms basic but clean and all you need. more

Our experience with this hotel was fine, and our room was clean and adequate. But our view? The generators or whatever (!!) so we kept the curtains closed. The downstairs restaurant was expensive for dinner so we opted for the one on the rooftop (we had time constraints and needed to end our evening early). It was still overpriced! And... more

This place is a joke, but be careful if you book through a third party as it is payment on arrival- probably because you wouldn't give them a penny if it was pay on departure. Just stayed in the Howard Park (Oct 09) on a Saturday night as I was in town for a charity night and couldn't get booked... more

Stayed here while at British Open. Had difficulty getting a hotel and when we arrived I was slightly alarmed at the "bomb shelter" outward appearance of the hotel. However, it would be unfair to judge this particular book by its cover. The room was clean and well kept, despite a less than effective television set. The best aspect of the... more

Comfortable and quite spacious rooms, nice bathroom with clean smart room. We stayed in this location out of necessity but it was actually quite nice - location is next to a big Tesco , a housing estate and a rank of shops but inside is clean and quiet. Heating was good although shower a bit weedy. Cooked breakfast was brilliant... more

Over all the review sites I read prior to arrival I must admit I was apprehensive. If you want palatial, it's not for you. If you want a well managed, friendly, slightly dated hotle with efficient staff then this is worth a try. Yes it is not the best located hotel I have ever seen, though easy to find and... more
