If you can book far enough in advance, and thus secure a discounted rate, this hotel offers reasonable value. It is within easy walking distance of the Overgate shopping centre. My room was the largest I have ever been allocated in a budget hotel. But it was utterly bleak - no attempt had been made to add any homely touches... more

We stayed here because it was central and right next door to Taymills which is the student accommodation our daughter was living in. Being so close to loads of sudents would explain previous reviewers complaints about drunks. We had a room at the back of the hotel so didn't have the noise problem other reviewers had. However although our room... more

Hotel rooms decent size and mostly clean- dont look too closely at the walls!-Very few facilities in rooms no telephones, hairdryers or irons. No info on area or directory for taxis, bars or restaurants.Staff not very helpful or friendly although you dont see too many of them. Not reccommended for more than a one or two night stay as a hot... more

Stayed here 4/9/07 and was most impressed when I we entered our room, spotless, modern decor and spacious. There were 3 of us in the room and it was by no means a tight squeeze. There was complimentary tea and coffee available, a must in any hotel. The only problem we had was the drunks leaving the nightclub opposite at... more

The bed was comfortable and that's the only nice thing i've got to say about this place. The noise was absolutely shocking. It is at a really busy junction so car and lorry noise all the time, there is construction going on at the back of the hotel, and from midnight till about 4 in the morning there were drunk... more

If three dots is three-star then that's about right but I've given it 4 because we only paid £26 per room (excellent value then). Everything you would expect from the standard travelodge room - except a bit bigger on this occasion. As others have said, the place is a converted warehouse so the rooms are large and very tall -... more

Excellant value for money at £51 per room per night. Newly refurbished - sooo clean. Rooms very spacious - high ceilings. Staff very helpful and such a central location. Would definitely stay here again more

My boyf and I stayed here for 2 nights in May for a family wedding. The hotel is bang in the centre of the city and very close to the Discovery, train station and shops as well as the city's nightlife. The hotel is a converted mill and the rooms are really large with very high ceilings and a sofa... more

I agree with other correspondents that the noise at night around this hotel is terrible. It comes from the busy road and especially from Fat Sam's Night Club across the road. In January at least the standard Travelodge electric heater just wasn't powerful enough to heat a much larger than usual Travelodge room. more

The rooms are large and clean but there a few issues that really bring the score down. The hotel sits at a very busy intersection and close to the road. Basically the car noise never stops if you have a room facing these streets. There are also several local bars and when they close at 2AM there was loud hooting... more
