I stayed in a beautiful large room on the top floor (nr 12). The decoration was charming, a mixture of modern and antique. Peaceful quiet area but only about 10 minutes walk to the nearest stores on perth road. The staff was very friendly and helpful. One helped me retrieve my mobile phone when i had lost it in a... more

Avoid this place at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was in Dundee at the weekend as myself and a host of work colleagues from Glasgow headed to the City of Discovery for a night on the tiles. Most folk booked into the Apex Hotel for £70 per night, but myself and two friends booked double rooms at the Shaftesbury Hotel for £58.... more

Comparing this "B&B" to others that we stayed in during our holiday to Scotland, it rated the lowest. This is mainly due to the breakfast provisions. Normally, my main concern is the room and service and in both these aspects, the hotel did fine. Unfortunately, when you book as bed and breakfast, one can't help but weigh a good portion... more

This is a bit of an odd place but "odd" in a good way! It's a small hotel in a former mill owners house. The room I stayed in was quite spacious with everything I needed apart from the TV which didn't work. The welcome was warm and friendly and the food fine. The odd bit for a Scottish hotel... more

I take a long time choosing my accommodation over the net. My girlfriend and I were visiting Dundee for one night only, to go to Albert Lee's (check him out) concert in the Whitehall theatre. The hotel is minutes away by foot and had good reviews, so we picked it. We were given a spacious room with a large bathroom... more

We arrived at the Shaftesbury on the coldest day of the year so far. The hotel is fine from the outside, situated in a nice area and the website was reassuring. I booked in advance and gave card details so our arrival was wholly expected. Despite this our large room was freezing and it was colder inside than out. We put... more

If it weren't for the dreadful bed that we had, we would have enjoyed our stay a lot more. It was impossible to move without making the entire bed rattle and waking up your partner. Putting this aside, the service was excellent and we enjoyed the breakfast a lot. The free DVD and internet service is also a nice touch.... more

I stayed at the Shaftesbury hotel this September whilst on business at the University. I stayed in a very spacious room , spotlessly clean, comfortable bed , crisp white cotton linen. Breakfast was cooked to order and served.I had dinner the night before at one of the hotels restaurants ( they have two) it was fantastic. The hotel has free... more

Stayed in this hotel with my husband. First impressions were ok, room was spacious but could maybe do with decorating. Breakfast was included which was good but it was about a 20 minute walk into the city centre. Not too bad though as it was straight along the main road and plenty to see on the way. Hotel looked a... more
