We carefully checked this hotel on the internet and booked on the strengh of the web site photos and reviews. The welcome was excellent and all of the staff were superb. However we all agreed that the decor was very tired and in urgent need of a refurb. The rooms are not as immaculate and spacious as they appear on... more

I decided to book a Saturday night at the Buccleuch as a treat for my partner, who had entered a photography competition and wanted to see his work on display. We've visited Moffat several times, have fallen in love with the former spa town and try to travel there at least twice a year. But while we've eaten at the... more

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights. The food was quite good, but not exceptional. The staff service and friendliness was top notch. However, the overall state of decoration was tired and dogeared. Our room had a large water stain on the ceiling.None of the drawers and cupboards had fronts and doors, incredibly. The shower did not work. Durham retired more

Stayed in the hotel as was at the classic car show in Moffat. The hotel itself was excellent. From the breakfast, the lunches and the evening meals, they were all excellent and good value for money. The hotel itself was very relaxing the staff really made the stay brillant as they were so friendly and helpful with any request. We... more

Arrived at the hotel feeling all Christmassy, on the way up to the Isle Of Arran. The town looked marvellous, twinkly lights and not too much tinsel and baubles. Staff in the Hotel were courteaous and welcoming. The room a bit iffy, but as we were staying just the one night we were prepared to overlook the dated decor. Had... more

We booked in to the hotel at the tourist board in March this year after a very long bike trip to Scotland in bad weather. It welcomes bikers and we found a very warm family welcome in fact they couldn't help us enough. Concerned about where to put the bikes and how to dry out our gear - we could... more

Stayed for one night. Staff were first class. Open, friendly and very well trained. The room was spotless although a little small. Evening meal was excellent. Good service and well presented. Breakfast was first rate too. Main complaint (if it really is one) someone needs to go round the rooms and public areas to fix the seams in the wallpaper,... more

I was here with a few colleagues (all of us women) as our work took us to Moffat for several days over several weeks. I liked it so much that I'm going to go back some weekend. The staff really looked after us - for example, reserving a dinner table without being asked to when the dining room was busy.... more

A party of 12 of us broke up our journey to Edinburgh by staying at the Buccleuch on the 22nd Sept, what a superb decision it turned out to be. Everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed it, the food and service were a joy and the ambience in the dining room was perfect. All of these things contributed into turning an... more

Pleasant Scottish hotel on main street of the lovely town of Moffat. The choice of hotel was from reviews onTripadvisor, plus reading good food reviews. Also the town is an ideal stop over on the way up to or down from the Highlands, I think the towns hoteliers make good use of the situation. However as stated before, the warm... more
