I always stop at Moffat for lunch, for one reason, The Star Hotel home made Game Soup. I have never tasted better. The service is ok and it has a friendly bar and restaurant. All the food is freshly cooked in this small hotel but the soup is to die for.

We called into this hotel for a drink. The woman behind the bar must be the most unfriendly, miserable person in Moffat - everyone else we encountered was so friendly from a lady dog walker to shop staff to the staff of the hotel we were staying in. She could barely be bothered to serve us, never looked up to... More

Our family stayed here whilst passing through Moffat and were very impressed with the hotel. We stayed in the family room and it was a good size, clean and welcoming. The staff were friendly and it was right in the centre of town. We had dinner and breakfast there and all the food was great, you certainly wont go hungry... More

Staying in Moffat on way to Shetlands. Had a lovely black velvet (look it up and it will become ur fave drink). Barman got me a spoon without me asking to stir the cider half. All staff great. Both had venison pie - just under £20. We always find people to chat to; maybe partly due to the bldg being... More

Overnight stay in famous Narrowest hotel in World. Welcoming and attentive staff. Comfortable double room with firm bed. Thankfully spare pillows available as only 1 each on bed. Very compact en-suite which was adequate for overnight stay. Small comfortable bar lounge with option to eat here or in upstairs restaurant. Sports bar also on site. Good menu choice and food... A party of six of us had lunch here yesterday for Mothers Day in the recently refurbished restaurant. Great choice, friendly and efficient service and massive portions. The food was all very tasty and home-cooked. I was very impressed with the gluten-free menu; I had cheese and broccoli bake with chips and a delicious desert of warm carrot and cinnamon... More

I can highly recommend The Star Hotel in Moffat. A small family run hotel that can offer everything you are looking for. I recieved a very friendly welcome from the attentive staff who you could instantly tell cared and were passionate about their hotel. Clean rooms that were maintained to a very high standard. The hotel boasts its own lounge... More

In town for the night looking for a bite to eat. The Star looked inviting so popped inside. Bar area was warm & cosy with a pleasant welcome from the bar staff. We both chose the Chicken Tikka Masala from the menu. Meal was spot on. Looked good, tasted good and washed down with a nice cool pint. The hotel... More

We have just returned from a lovely weekend in Moffat. My partner wanted to visit the monestary at Eskdalemuir (well worth a visit) so decided on the Star Hotel, having read some of the reviews (negative may I add) I still decided on this little gem. From the time we arrived until we left this morning there is definatley nothing negative... More
