Stayed at this hotel a number of times on business. It has been under new management for the last 6 months and what a difference the management makes! Friendly and helpful staff. Nice clean rooms, excellent food. Highly recommended. more

We just spent a winter weekend break at Moffat House Hotel. The hotel and rooms have character and are cosy and clean. The staff are pleasant and very helpful. The full Scottish breakfast was brilliant. There was a cosy fire burning in the lounge to sit near and have a quiet relaxing drink. If you are looking for a quiet... more

A retired couple from the Midlands. We started our Hogmanay break early so were amongst the first guests after Christmas. The requested ground floor room was unfortunately at the end of a long unheated corridor. The room was very gloomy and poorly lit, the bathroom was unheated and equipped with an ineffective shower. Laptop power points were inaccessible. After a... more

My experience was totally at odds with the previous review. The room was lovely (although the bathroom was a bit dated), The 4 poster bed is a bit of a novelty i guess but still the room was a good size. We ate in the restuarant and they took our order while we sat in the bar. The food was... more

The food was cold, the service was non-existent, the staff were more intersted in socialising with their friends. No cutlery for ten minutes after food arrived, and meals arrived at different times. The outside of the building offers elegance but I feel the staff have not been told this. Carpets are shabby, walls are poorly decorated. Very unhappy because even... more

Spent 2 nights honeymooning and were made to feel very special. The staff are lovely and most helpful, special thanks to Kevin. We stayed in 1 of the four poster rooms which was very comfortable. Overall a very nice hotel with everything we wanted. more

Stayed here for a wedding. The room was nice, bit small, bathroom was ok. On first glance it was all decorated well, but then you notice things like, paper not quite stuck down, paintwork not done properly, carpet was abit grubby. Housekeeping needed a nudge...bedhead was very dusty as were other areas in the room. Bathroom tiles needed a wipe... more

A very unfriendly welcome. Noone at reception desk and we were made to wait a long time. Service in the restaurant was slow and the food was overpriced compared to local restaurants. Having said this, the hotel was attractive and clean. The single rooms are very small, and the water pressure in the shower was very low. more

I booked a room for one night using "Rates to go", but when I got to the hotel, they hadn't been notified by them, which means that in future, I'll use Laterooms. Anyway, fortunately they had spare rooms, and the one I got was well furnished (No 11) and very comfortable. Yet again this amazingly is a hotel which provides... more
