We stayed at the Rookery in February 2015 for a few nights and it was a delightful, self contained little jem. Beautifully decorated and very peaceful we had a wonderful time. Laurence cooked us a superb meal on our first night which was like having our own private Michelin chef. Staying at the Glenholme country house or the Rookery is... More

Just returned from the Rookery. Despite freezing weather had wonderful time. The Rookery is totally secluded. Absolute privacy from Glenholme next door but well worth a visit as the welcome there is warm and the cooking amazing ... Even for a vegetarian. The Rookery is immaculately designed, spacious and comfortable. As a group we had different interests but the Rookery... More

May 2015 will be our 5th stay in this beautifully appointed and equipped cottage. As a family we range in age from 3 to 50 and without exception we have fallen in love with The Rookery and the surrounding area. As outlined in previous reviews on this site the accommodation is outstanding in its warmth, décor and facilities; Laurence and... More

We had a warm and cosy winter week in The Rookery apartment despite it being -5 some days. Stunningly decorated - we were finding new items of loveliness on a daily basis, very well equipped, utterly comfortable and spotlessly clean. The main living area is a real sun trap and there are pretty views from the first floor rooms. Friendly... More

Attention to detail, beautifully decorated rooms and a very welcoming ethos. This is a gem, not to be missed. The welcome was warm and made you feel that the place was yours to relax in and enjoy. Piles of interesting books, magazines and CDs lie around, inviting to browse. The bedroom was so beautifully decorated and the bed and bedding... More

Glenholme Country House is the perfect place to unwind. Our room was stunning; tastefully decorated with gorgeous views, a really comfortable bed with soft linen sheets and the (beautiful) en suite had a lovely strong shower. The gardens were a riot of colour and large enough to roam around in. Jennifer and Laurence are superb hosts. The food is WONDERFUL;... More

We spent 3 nights in the Nicholson room which is lovely: big comfortable old bed with lovely white linen and very powerful shower in the ensuite. The whole house is very nicely turned out with excellent period features retained and tasteful but individual decor. Laurence looked after us perfectly with help on where to go for walks, where to eat,... More

Stayed for four nights in October, and had a wonderful time. The house is beautifully decorated, has a lovely relaxed ambience and a luxurious feel. Helpful but not intrusive owners. We booked it because it has a lovely library with big sofas and a log fire, which we thought we might need if the weather was bad but we got... More

The Rookery self-catering cottage that's attached to the Glenholme Country House is just lovely. Very nicely decorated, super clean & well equipped. Really nice bathroom and kitchen. We had a really relaxing week here with plenty of rest, open fires and general all-round loveliness. Also a really good selection of novels and board games and the owners are very generous... More

Large old building with fabulously quirky interior design - think old leather suitcases and large glass bowls; a wallpaper panel made of the pages of a book and another featuring old candle wall lights. This is all Jennifer's doing Rooms graceful and well appointed - bathrooms especially good with large shower and generous towels. Breakfasts are wonderful - yoghurts and... More
