Our second visit to Glenholme, we spent two nights with friends who hadn't visited Galloway before. We enjoyed the beautiful interiors and the quirky touches in the bedrooms and public areas. The library (which is really the sitting room) is filled with thousands of books on a host of subjects. Laurence and Jennifer are very welcoming hosts and Laurence is... More

We have just spent three nights at the Glenholme Country House, where Laurence looked after us superbly. The house is stylishly furnished and stylised, in its own, well attended grounds, on the main road into Kirkcudbright. Glenholme is above all tranquil and comfortable. Laurence is a very attentive but not intrusive host. Breakfast is nothing short of excellent and we... More

Four of us stayed for 3 nights, having dinner on 2 of the evenings, and received exceptionally warm hospitality from Laurence and Jennifer. A beautiful home with a wonderful library and lounge to unwind in and a glorious garden to stroll around. We were spoilt by Laurence at breakfast and his dinner menu was an unrushed treat after busy days... More

Recently stayed here for three nights in this very elegant house and we were delighted with every aspect of our stay. Laurence looked after us superbly and we were made to feel very welcome. Breakfast was wonderful, with homemade compote and other fruits and cereals available plus any amount of cooked breakfast too and served in their very elegant dining... More

We found Glenholme without a problem, and it's nicely set back from the main road. The main road isn't too noisy, being set back does make it more tranquil. We were met by Laurence, and his very relaxed style. The house is lovely and has much to offer, not least being the welcoming library with its real fire. The food... More

Just returned from 4 days at The Rookery in lovely Kirkudbright. This is our second visit having stayed in Glenholme last year and the Rookery is just as lovely. All rooms are well decorated, tasteful and in excellent condition and spotlessly clean. A real 'home from home'......... Highly recommended

We stayed at the Rookery in February 2015 for a few nights and it was a delightful, self contained little jem. Beautifully decorated and very peaceful we had a wonderful time. Laurence cooked us a superb meal on our first night which was like having our own private Michelin chef. Staying at the Glenholme country house or the Rookery is... More

Just returned from the Rookery. Despite freezing weather had wonderful time. The Rookery is totally secluded. Absolute privacy from Glenholme next door but well worth a visit as the welcome there is warm and the cooking amazing ... Even for a vegetarian. The Rookery is immaculately designed, spacious and comfortable. As a group we had different interests but the Rookery... More

May 2015 will be our 5th stay in this beautifully appointed and equipped cottage. As a family we range in age from 3 to 50 and without exception we have fallen in love with The Rookery and the surrounding area. As outlined in previous reviews on this site the accommodation is outstanding in its warmth, décor and facilities; Laurence and... More

We had a warm and cosy winter week in The Rookery apartment despite it being -5 some days. Stunningly decorated - we were finding new items of loveliness on a daily basis, very well equipped, utterly comfortable and spotlessly clean. The main living area is a real sun trap and there are pretty views from the first floor rooms. Friendly... More
