This was our second visit to this hotel with my parents. As we were booked in for an easter break and the hotel dining room was going to be busy the reception staff rang us the week before to make sure we had a table reserved. Very nice touch. All the staff are friendly and welcoming and my Mum and... more

We pre-visited the hotel for coffee at Eastertime, and were treated with great courtesy and a non-intrusive friendliness. I was captivated by the conservatory window facing out into the back-garden, and decided to make sure I reserved it for our July stay - the hotel was very obliging in this. On the second night of our stay (18 July), it... more

Were moved here after being overbooked at the Royal Hotel. Staff were really helpful, going over and above what was expected. Room was spotless, bright and spacious. Breakfast was lovely. Wish we could have stayed again the next night but unfortunately got moved back to the Royal. more

Stopped in Kirckudbright on a trip from England to Scotland and found the Selkirk Arms to be a perfect place to stay. Room was spacious, bathroom a little tiny but ok with tub and shower combination. Hotel website gave impression of the hotel was next to the sea, but that's not true - it's in town centre and all you... more

Stayed Bank Holiday weekend 24th-26th May. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The hotel was very busy but the efficient staff dealt with the numbers of non-residents and residents for dinner in either the Bistro or the Restaurant in a professional manner. The quality of the food was excellent with a varied choice. Breakfast was also an enjoyable experience... more

Hello all. Myself and my partner required to stay in Kirckcudbright for a one night stay. Late planning on my part and not enough research lead us to this hotel as a last minute booking. Our experience of the Selkirk hotel was exceptional, for only a 3 star hotel, the standards are clearly 4 stars. This hotel is spot less;... more

My husband and I have just been on one of our regular trips to Scotland during which we enjoyed a return visit to the Best Western Selkirk Arms Hotel in Kirkcudbright. Since we visited this hotel last year some improvements have taken place under the new management and we were pleased to note that the staff were still the same... more

Kircudbright is a lovely, small town in Galloway with a good range of upmarket shops and art galleries. The Selkirk Arms is in a central but quiet location. Having stayed there two years ago, we were hugely impressed by the improvements that the new owner are implementing. The staff are excellent, Betty at reception and Alex in the bar being... more

The staff really are the key in this hotel, so efficient and friendly. Everone including the owners surpassed our expectations. Lovely room with bathroom to match. Food was really good, breakfast, lunch and dinner! The Hotel had a great atmosphere also, both in bar and restaurant. Will return for sure. more

This was the best New Years Eve Celebration that we have ever attended, the whole New Years Eve break from start to finish was fantastic. Douglas McDavid and his partner John Walker did us proud. We have known Douglas from his days as manager of the Cally Palace at Gatehouse of Fleet, as we visit there on a regular basis... more
