Returned to the Selkirk Arms (appropriately, given the hotel's Burns connection, the night after the Bard's 250th birthday) in the company of an aged parent whose particular requirements were met in the form of a quiet, ground-floor room close to all public amenities and attentive, patient staff. Once again, I left an entirely satisfied customer. John Maitland London SW9 more

The reviews I had read prior to staying complimented the food and the staff - both fully deserved the praise. The home-made vegetable lasagne was delicious and the staff really friendly and helpful. A couple of minor things which could be improved - just before 7am it was a bit noisy and I'm afraid it wasn't the guests! Also the... more

We stayed at Selkirk Arms Hotel for 2 nights recently to celebrate my Dad's 65th birthday, and from the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They were friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. The food in the restaurant is excellent - prepared with fresh and tasty produce. The rooms were comfortable and... more

We stayed at The Selkirk Arms for one night on 7th Nov. We were made very welcome on arrival. The shower in our room was not working and we immediatley moved to a superior room. Dinner was excellent with fresh ingredients. Breakfast was also very good. Overall a lovely hotel with great staff, nothing was too much. Can recommend this hotel. more

A very professionally run place - friendly and efficient staff, couldnt do enough for you, very welcoming. Room spotless, bed comfortable, bathroom immaculate. Best thing of all, though was the food. There were lots of local people eating there, and the bistro area was packed. Try the chocolate torte, it was the the best chocolaty pud ive ever had! more

A family group of 5 of us stayed at the Selkirk Arms, having looked for somewhere with a restaurant and bar within the Kirkcudbright area The hotel looks quite small from the front, in the old town of Kirkcudbright, a scenic town/large village set on a river estuary in a beautiful part of Scotland The car park wasnt the easiest... more

I hosted a tour of Canadians/Americans who had not visited Scotland previously for two days in Kirkcudbright. The whole experience was very special. The staff of the hotel did everything they could to make our visit memorable. From helping to arrange garden visits to caring for a guest who had injured her foot, including the haggis ceremony as part of... more

Kircubright is a very attrcative town with a ruined castle and we arrived at the hotel via the carpark and very pretty garden in full bloom. Received a very friendly welcome and were taken to our room in the annexe of the hotel which consists of converted cottages next to the main building. Very comfortable, clean room with plenty of... more
