Living in the town locally, my family & I go to the bay regularly for meals & to the bar. The food is exceptionally good, and with my dad being a highly skilled chef & training both chefs that work in the kitchens, they do him proud making such great food. It's great value for money and good sized portions.... More

We ate here in the evening since the Selkirk was full. The place needs some attention, but the service was friendly. Some restaurant English training might help as the phrase "pint of bitter" seemed unfamiliar. We were amazed that they had no sparkly water: I had tap water. We chose soup to start, and the soup itself was delicious, home-made... More

There don't seem to be too many places to eat out in Kirkudbright. Going on external appearances your first choice would probably be the Selkirk Arms. However, when we went there we had a problem getting a table so we went for a meal to the Bay Hotel. It doesn't look quite as nice from the outside and would benefit... More

Stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of a cycling holiday. We arrived about 4.30pm and the small bar was almost full with locals and the pub seemed tired. It didn't look too welcoming, however, the staff were excellent and soon had us booked in. After the bar, we were surprised to find a comfortable and spotlessly clean... More

We stayed just for 1 night (saturday) as this was a first time. The rooms were very clean, beds comfy. The evening meal was very good & the breakfast a good start to the day. The public bar was full of life in the evening. There is a smaller room to sit & have a drink if you want something... More

Not easy to find dog friendly eating places in this area. Tourist Information sent us to the Selkirk Arms which turned us away but tried the Kirkcudbright Bay and was told we could bring the dog in as long as the three tables in the front bar were not taken. We were lucky (only 2 taken) but the meal of... More

Stayed for 2 nights whilst at a wedding. Arrived late Friday night and the bar/ street was very noisy. Stayed in Room 3 with a small and hard double bed, curtains that let light through in the morning and the noise from outside to contend with. We had a bad night's sleep. Woke up the next day and were about... More

From the outside the Hotel looked a bit tired and in need of some new windows. Inside the Hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. There was a small bar area to the left, a snug at the back and a restaurant in the conservatory which served meals. There was also a beer garden at the back. Our Room was... More

My wife & I stayed for 2 nights in Room 1 which is on the first floor. It's recently had a new en-suite bathroom, nice and clean & lovely shower. The bedroom is very big & has a 2 seater settee, plenty of tea & coffee & free wifi - very easy to connect. The downside of this room is... More

Stayed here for one night before staying with friends nearby. Room was very large and spotless. Breakfast served by friendly staff with varied menu, portions large and of great quality. We had a family evening meal and everyone was very impressed. We observed the fresh fish being delivered to the holt and it did not disappoint. The holt looks a... More
