We stayed at this hotel as a stop over in April and it was so bad we complained and were offered a 2 night break to "restore our faith" - big mistake, nothing had changed, the room we had (an executive double apparently) had mould on the wall behind the curtain, the carpets are still threadbare, the bar is very... more

Shabby, needs refurbishing. Evening meals acceptable with plenty of choice but there was a butter famine at breakfast time - my tip is to take your own unless you just love Flora on your toast. We asked for more but it did not materialise. Hospitality not great. To complete the picture they also supplied a fire, complete with fire engine... more

Like most of the other reviews the hotel needed refurbishing. The badly worn carpets, held together with tape were a health and safety issue. Our bedroom window was propped open with a drinking glass. No tea or coffee in the rooms, just an empty container along side the jug. Told we had to pay £1 as we were "not paying... more

After a long days travelling, we arrived at this hotel and were greeted with a very friendly young man on the front desk... but that is where the good service ceased! The hotel overall is very shabby and in desperate need of renovations. We feel very sorry for anyone who has their wedding reception here! Our rooms were dirty -... more

I feel sorry for couples who come here to be married. The hotel looks good in the photos but is in dire need of updating. Tea and coffee are not supplied in the bedrooms, you have to purchase a bag from reception for £1. One of the cups in my room was still dirty from the previous occupant. The food... more

Just got back from a three day stay at Gretna Hall Hotel, what a relief to be leaving. Service was abissmal, all Eastern Europeans (who were very nice I might add but paid a pittance) who couldn't understand English apart from one guy who was barman, porter ,waiter, you name it he was that man. Food was edible, but service... more

We recently stayed at Gretna Hall for a murder mystery weekend. The hotel and its rooms are very tired and in need of some work. They are particularly bad in the ugly extension attached to the old building. Our friends got an upgrade to a bridal suite after complaining about their mouldy bathroom in the superior room. The suites are... more

We Decided To Go To This Hotel Because It Was Near The Train Station So We Got Off There And Walked To The Hotel. When We First Went, There Was A Power Cut Which Was Awful At The Time But Looking Back It Seems Hilarious! Then The Second Time Was Much Better As The Food Was Better And The Hotel... more

I stayed here at the weekend and was a bit concerned having read some of the other reviews. I agree that the carpets are worn, however I found the room clean, the bed wasn't too bad ( a bit small ) , and for what we paid I think it was good value. My only real gripe was that I... more
