My wife & I stayed May 17 & 18th. Bruce was a walking history text of the area. We were looking for the ruins that was my wife's family castle. Bruce directed us to t and was able to share the history with us. It made the experience all that more special. The B&B was beautiful, a historic "Arts &... More

We found this B&B after looking at the Tripadvisor site and were so glad we found it. It's in an excellent location, within walking distance into the centre of Dumfries and also a short journey by car to the A75 etc, so it's convenient to explore Dumfries & Galloway area. Beautiful arts and crafts house with lots of character, including... More

This was the final night stop over for myself and three mates on a five day motorbike tour of Scotland. On arrival we were met by the extremely friendly proprietor Bruce Harper, who insisted we park our bikes on his private, gravel free patio area around the back, so there was no danger of any gravel related mishaps on our... We stayed he are wedding night and the night after and we did not want to leave. The room was beautiful and very clean, with fresh towels each day and well stocked hot drinks. Brilliant and quick service at breakfast and very good quality food. Couldn’t fault anything. Thank you .

Very friendly staff willing to go out of their way to help. Accomodation very well presented with a bit of character rather than the run-of-the mill cloned room. We stayed two nights with my aged father (93) and having rooms on the ground floor was a great asset. We used Rivendell as our base and would recommend it to anyone... More

My husband and I stayed for a night a few nights ago and were well impressed. We were a bit worried with not having stayed at a B&B before, but it was so much nicer than we could have imagined. We were in Room 6 on the ground floor and it was lovely. Four poster bed (which did creak a... More

I stayed for an extended stay whilst working in Dumfries and found this to be an excellent small hotel. The standard of cleanliness is excellent and the rooms are well equipped with flat screen digital tv. A good selection of tea coffee and hot chocolate with quality biscuits provided. The hotel owner , Bruce, was always chatty and helpful and... More

After staying at the Rivendell on Saturday 10th March I would say I was a little dissapointed with the Rivendell. After reading so many good reviews I was really looking forward to my stay there. We had to fill in a breakfast request form for Sundays breakfast stating what you wanted and a what time you required it. After sitting... More
