There is not much choice if you are looking for a chain hotel in South West Scotland. With the exception of a few independent properties booked through Best Western, this is the closest national chain hotel to say Stranraer, at about 80 miles, although only a few yards closer than the Travelodge. Stayed here for one night en route to Dalbeattie. We had considered staying at the Dumfries Travelodge (where we had stayed a few years ago and remembered as being fine) but recent reviews here suggested it had gone downhill. Like the Travelodge, the Travel Inn is also adjacent to the roundabout at the east end of the A75 Dumfries bypass.... more
