The Carndale hotel is a great place to stay in you wish to travel by bus or train around Southern Scotland or down to Carlisle.
Buses are free to Gretna etc and Carlise if you use your Scotland Bus pass ""

The cairndale is situated near to the centre of Dumfries and offers good value accommodation and facilities. The facilities include a swimming pool and gym both of which are free to residents. Good value meals are also on offer. I had a hearty breakfast and didn't need to eat again all day!!

From my previous reviews you will find that I am a fan of the larger corporate hotel chains, that being said, The privately owned Cairndale Hotel was just around the corner from where I was to be, therefore selected on location.
The hotel is large with an swimming pool and gym (bonus!!).
