Booked this hotel via tavelzoo for birthday present for husband. 2 night break DBB for £99, great value for money. Hotel upgraded our room for £20 extra as they were reasonably quiet, we stayed in the honeymoon suite which was lovely, had lovely views of the garden and had a sofa and chair to sit on when relaxing. Food was... More

Stayed couple of weeks ago , nice looking hotel , staff TRIED their best but OBVIOUSLY staffed as they tried to run the bar and restaurant area at once so at times had to wait ages for a drink ! Even at breakfast I had to wait about half an hour for my coffee and cold toast that I asked... More

Purchased two double rooms for this Saturday evening en route back home from North West Highlands to Shropshire. Used Travel Zoo voucher deal for £59 each room which included the 3 course evening meal and breakfast for two people for the £59. Excellent value for money - cheaper than some Travel Lodge prices for same evening. The staff were lovely... More

The hotel is set in lovely gardens away from the main road but close enough for easy access to Dumfries. The hotel has loads of unique features but also manages to be cosy and comfortable. We had a huge room at the back so very quiet and while some redecoration would be recommended, on the whole it was very good.... More

Set in its own beautiful gardens, this old hall was a great break away. The road running just outside the large gardens is the road to the Solway for nice walks and Gretna and Dumfries for shopping. The building itself is old with a bit of refurbishment required but it had all the important things right for our two day break.... This is one of the nicest hotel we have stayed in in a long while. It was bought with a voucher but would have paid full price. We booked just a couple of weeks before we arrived. It was a superior room at the rear of the hotel. The view wasn't the best (wooden structure which we found out was... More

This is a large old style hotel - (you want shiny glass and bland hotel room ? You are in the wrong place). The suit of armour on the stair case said it all. Excellent service, friendly low key staff. Had breakfast- which was fine good range on offer, including cooked if required. Heating was on full - no problems... More

Very friendly helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Even though I was setting off before breakfast would normally be served the chef made himself/herself available earlier to ensure I was sent off with a good breakfast. Excellent food. Beautiful area - would certainly not hesitate to return.

lovely drive to the hotel with a couple of dodgy turns on road. Lots of car parking space and secure.booked in no problem and was shown to room. Room very nice but Baltic with no heating. Requested heaters which were delivered straight away. Desperate for a shower and when I pointed out no heat in shower I was told to... More

The location is amazing but once we got our key we could clearly see that we were put in the run down side of the hotel, the room was hidious, we had... More
