Right, there's nothing really wrong with this hotel; infact I quite liked it. As with other Best Western's, the hotel has good standards, and kept its individuality without being "corporatised". When I was having my breakfast though, the waiter got an earful from a woman eating there. It was over something really quite petty like the coffee or something. If... more

Thishotel is a complete disgrace. They have no staff, and the ones that they have are rude obnoxious and uninterested. The manager was seen on several occassions arguing with staff and makin in an uncomfortable atmosphere, but upmost the managers attitude was a complete disgrace to the best western name. She did NOT care about the heating in our room... more

We arrived as a part of a large walking group and found the staff very friendly, and a comfortable room , with hot water even when many people were wanting showers and baths at the same time. The first night they were unprepared for 40 people all eating at once, food fine but service a little chaotic. Saturday the next... more

I have regularly stayed in this Hotel and find the staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant has some excellent food and has a comfortable atmosphere. The bar area is spacious and has a well stocked selection of malt whiskys. The rooms are clean and some have some great views of the surrounding countryside. It is well placed and very central... more

I was appalled at the treatment of two elderly diners at lunchtime this week by a member of the bar staff and the hotel owner. Firstly there was a problem with their drinks order with no apology. Then, afer waiting for over 40 minutes for their meal, their enquiry about this to the barman was met with rudeness. Their initial... more

The hotel is close to the Railway Station and easy for walking to town to see all the Burns Heritage or to walk by the River. The staff were unfailingly helpful and friendly to this large clan group from America. The bar and dining areas were comfortable and relaxing. The bedrooms were very comfortable and everyone enjoyed the ambiance of... more

My wife and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary treat and enjoyed every minute. We booked last minute on the hotel website, dinner, bed and breakfast, very reasonable price. The Hoyel was very easy to find and on our arrival we were met and dealt with politely and efficiently and ascended to the 4th floor by via the antiquated lift,... more

Had a 2 night stay while in Dumfries for a wedding. Hotel was welcoming and extremly comfortable. Stayed in a superior room and got a four poster. Room was nicely decorated and had plenty of space. The only downside would be the bathroom. Although cleanliness was not an issue it was a little tired and dated. Friends were joining us... more
