We found this hotel when looking for a stopover on the way to a camping trip in the Highlands in Scotland. After trying and failing to find a stopover near the M6 in the lake district I came across this one in Dumfries which wasn't far from the motorway and it got us a bit closer to Scotland as well.... Friendly welcome. Excellent room . Quiet and peaceful. Helpful staff. Clean and tidy. Bistro has good selection for breakfast and evening meals are OK. Visit the Camera Obscura Museum in Dumfries and the Devil'S Porridge Museum at Eastriggs near Gretna whilst you are passing

Fine period building directly opposite station with parking at the door. Very pleasant and welcoming staff, particularly at reception. Comfortable en-suite bedroom and good cooked breakfast. Free wifi offered good speed.

Our unplanned stop at this hotel was a fantastic experience. Beautiful building, tasteful decor and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts and whiskeys were superb! Particular thanks to the very helpful lady on reception on the evening of 8th August who found us a last-minute gorgeous room at a great price.

This hotel was the old style hotel that served the railway travelers. The hotel is well placed in the centre of town yet easy to get to. Parking is plentyful but gets busy a peak times. The hotel staff are superb and very friendly. The food is reasonable and very well presented. I have no problems with this hotel and... More
