From the moment we arrived Kevin couldn't have been more helpful - the perfect host. I believe Lynn was away during our two night stay, so we didn't have the pleasure of meeting her too. We chose it for its proximity to WWT Caerlaverock and it was perfectly situated. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Listening... More

The cozyness and comfort of the accomodations are just a part of this exceptional B&B. The host, Kevin, made us feel at home like nowhere else during this trip, from arranging the best continental breakfast ever, to give us the best hints about the region, points of interest, what do to, where to go, etc. When back from our daily... Off the usual tourist track for most visitors, the area south of Dumfries is a delightful discovery. Because of a Maxwell family connection, the intriguing Caerlaverock Castle was our destination, and accommodation at nearby Hutton Lodge suited us perfectly. Kevin and Lynn share their lovely home in the quiet community of Bankend. Their well-tended garden attracts many species of birds... More

We stayed here for one night (2 couples) on a weekend visit to Dumfries and Galloway and very glad we did - it is a lovely setting, a comfortable homely bed and breakfast with great attention to detail - fresh milk for drinks in our room, lovely fresh fruit at breakfast, a delightful lounge, kindly booking a table for us... We stayed only one night in this very nice old house, in a very confortable room. Our kids were also in a nice and confortable room. Kevin, the guest, is a very nice person, who knows how to make you confortable. And the breakfast was superb... Great stay, I can't say anything else.

I chose this establishment as it is most convenient for the Wildfowl and Wetland Centre. The B&B is in a quiet location in a beautiful area. The house and room was spotless with everything one could reasonably expect. Kevin was most attentive and very knowledgeable regarding the local area. He even directed me to ask for a particular table in... More

We're so pleased that the close proximity of the Wetlands Wildfowl Trust centre at Caerlaverock was a major factor that helped you decide to stay with us. Isn't the flight of birds down the River Nith and onto the mudflats at dusk a remarkable sight? Thank you very much for your kind compliments and we really do hope to see... More

A good quiet and rural position especially for water bird watchers. Welcoming, friendly and attentive hosts with good local knowledge. Our bedroom was spotless and had everything we needed even a lovely sun rise view towards Solway Firth a day after we had woken to fog! Breakfast was great and a good set up for the day. The property has... More

We arrived mid afternoon to a warm welcome. Visitors on a tour will appreciate probably the best guide to places to see and visit they are likely to find, both close by and much further afield. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and please remember to pre-arrange an evening meal with us if you prefer, should you decide to visit again. The nearest hotel is located in the adjoining village of Glencaple where most of our guests enjoy their evening meal as it is situated alongside the River Nith. More
