The remote location of this tiny village on the Firth of Solway was a highlight of our trip. Susan was away for her birthday, and we were the only ones booked, so we had the pleasure of spending a morning with George who not only prepared our breakfast, but regaled us with stories of life in the village of Carsethorn.... Loved our stay at the Old Shop - gorgeous location , wonderfully warm welcome and lovely room with amazing views across the Solway Estuary. We ate at the local pub - great food and atmosphere . Can thoroughly recommend this charming bed and breakfast... and owners who care about their guests . Thank you

We just stayed at The Old Shop for two nights. Susan, the owner, is very friendly and helpful, the place is spotless, and breakfasts freshly cooked and tasty. The location is terrific - right on the edge of the Solway Firth

This was a very last minute booking but there were no hitches and she was ready for us. It is only a few kilometres off the track at a "dead end" road well worth the visit. The owner Susan is a beautiful person and very accommodating. The breakfast in the kitchen was delightful. Absolutely nothing can be improved. Except the... More

It's off the beaten track but well worth a visit, we had the room with the view over looking the firth, fantastic room, table with a couple of chairs positioned at the window, it was decorated beautifully, comfortable bed and immaculate, good shower, nice clean bathroom, they have thought of everything to make your stay as welcoming and comfortable as... My abiding memory of the Old Shop b & b is sitting on the deck of the summerhouse with a cup of tea & watching the sea and wildlife. A beautiful place and so relaxing. The room was comfortable and clean. Susan was chatty and welcoming at breakfast which is served informally in the kitchen. Very nice breakfast with fresh... More

We stayed at the Old Shop for one night on our way south from a Runrig concert at Edinburgh. We received a warm welcome from Susan and our room was spotless with everything we needed over looking the garden and the Solway. We were very comfortable and had a lovely walk along the beach and a relaxing sit on the... More

We stayed at the Old Shop en route to the western isles of Scotland. What a find- both the B & B and the coast of Dumfrieshire! We were two couples and the only guests. Susan and George cooked us a great breakfast, and it was fun to eat in the kitchen. Good coffee too. Our rooms were super clean,... More
