So many things to say about this place. First of all it's a home and you feel like you are in someones home, it's warm and welcoming. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom which is pretty, comfortable and had everything we needed (including a little fridge). The breakfast is great with good fresh and locally sourced food. Susan and George... More

Stayed in this lovely B&B with my partner last weekend for one night. The shop was built in 1842 and has been a drinking house in the past. Our room was wonderfully furnished with quality bedding and lovely thick towels in the bathroom ( i said i'd mention them Susan!) We were lucky to have the room with the sea... More

We felt so fortunate to be helped by the people at the Steamboat Inn who assisted us when they were all booked up, and into such a nice B&B. The proprietress could not have been more friendly or real. We had such a spirited, intelligent, enjoyable conversation around the breakfast table; it seemed as though Susan and George were old... Have read a few of the reviews and first must say that we didn't find the locals 'cliquey' at all-in fact we found the opposite! Rooms were spotless, quiet, and warm. George booked us into the local pub for food and we had a great night with him and his partner. Excellent breakfast the following morning. Really super stay, would... More

We chose this cottage to be close to the many bitdwatching sites nearby...Rspb Mersehead with the wintering Barnacle Geese is five minutes away and WWT Cavalaverock is only 20 minutes away so location was perfect. However what we didn't realise was the wealth of sights right from the bedroom window....Porpoises jumping within feet of the shore and shelduck, turnstone and... More

Travelled alone for rest and relaxation. 3 night stay.Perfect place to get both. Susan and George are a lovely friendly couple making my stay a memorable one. Breakfast was superb and couldn't be improved. Cosy room with everything to hand, immaculate en suite and comfy bed. Excellent village pub, 2 mins walk with freshly cooked seafood. Stayed here in December last year and what a charming place it is! Room was spotless with lovely decor and felt very cosy not to mention the stunning views overlooking the sea. Susan and George extended the warmest of welcomes, arranged with the local pub for me to have an evening meal and served up a hearty breakfast with great... More

Right on the shorefront with great views, this small cottage has a lot going for it. However, the rooms are small and sloping roofs make moving around hazardous. It is well furnished and the beds are comfortable, but would benefit from cotton sheets, The landlady is friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good, traditional B&B fare, well cooked and... Fantastic stay in Carsethorn a beautiful little spot on the Solway firth. Excellent breakfast and very clean. No where better to set a base for a trip to the area. Well worth a trip to the local pub to, make sure you book your table

The remote location of this tiny village on the Firth of Solway was a highlight of our trip. Susan was away for her birthday, and we were the only ones booked, so we had the pleasure of spending a morning with George who not only prepared our breakfast, but regaled us with stories of life in the village of Carsethorn....
